Just reporting back on the popcorn making- MSErs were right, some butter on the hob and we were away with the corn popping nicely. In fact we made masses of it and it was lovely!

It just goes to show when making popcorn READ THE PACKET!

I don't use any oil when making popcorn (even if the instructions say to); I just make sure the saucepan is warm before adding the kernels.

I normally get mine from Asda £2.50 for 1kg but found Sainsburys were cheaper at 51p for 500g (haven't tried these out yet)

I do use a little bit of oil to stop the kernels from sticking, and then I make my lovely popcorn. The bit that makes it extra special is making a caramel using butter, sugar, a bit of golden syrup and some cinnamon all poured over it... mmm... it just disappears!

  • I found mine is Asda it as in the healthy snacks sections (that's near the crisps) if that helps when looking out for it!

    Hi betterlife,

There are lots of recipes and ideas (both sweet and savoury) on this thread that may help:

    HM Popcorn?

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

I'm going to try spraying the popcorn with spray oil and adding curry powder.

No idea how it will taste but popcorn is a much better snack than crisps, so hopefully DDs will like it :)
