Chilli caramel popcorn from smittenkitchen.com is amazing - I get more requests to make this than pretty much anything

Chilli caramel? That sounds intriguing! I'll have to look that one up.

Argh, I can't find the recipe. Do you have a link please?

I love Cheese popcorn when we are in the US but it's not the most practical thing to bring home so I tracked these recipes down

very yummy (but only if you like cheese:D)

Scottishminnie - my kids will love you forever - I can see little bags of this for packed lunches or for smuggling into the cinema!

This thread has come at good time,Lidl have a popcorn maker in next week's offers.

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_21575.htm

The last time they had them in,I missed out on getting one and I have been waiting for months for them to come back in again :D

I know you can make popcorn in a saucepan,I used to do it when my children were little, but the pan took ages to clean afterwards so I am going to treat myself to a popcorn maker.

I've found some great flavouring ideas already on this thread :T

Thanks for these ideas. DD got a popcorn maker a few years ago for Christmas and it gets used at least a couple of times a week but normally just with salt or sugar so I think I'll try some of these recipes.

Never posted before, and find it funny that it is popcorn that has got me typing :D

You could try lemon merengue (sorry about spelling if it is wrong)
Just add one small crumbled up merengue and a teaspoonful of lemon curd, to your popcorn. Enjoy.
  • I've just bought a bag of pop corn & managed to microwave it on its own. I just put a few kernals in a pyrex bown, covered the bowl with an upturned plastic colander to stop the corn escaping & it worked! I've been buying the microwaveable bags, but wanted to do it without flavourings so I could add my own.

Ooh dear I could be in trouble with that LIDL offer, looks very tempting even though we have nowhere to put a popcorn maker and it's pretty hideous to look at! :)

I always make it in a pan with olive oil then chuck loads of butter and salt over it, love love butter! The problem with making other sorts is that I don't think the olive oil would taste right and we don't use sunflower/vegetable at all in our house as they are so unhealthy. I guess I could try some coconut oil for the sweet flavours and see if it will still pop on that?!

I once tried some curry flavoured popcorn at a party and that was really nice...
