Would an I-pad Air 2, really outlive three Hudls?
You could buy each student two Hudls, and still be 33% better off, than if you bought each of them an I-pad Air 2.
When I was there Ipad 2 was still in use, that was in July so probably still the case. They were bought when they came out in 2011, so they are 4.5 years old, so have served for almost an entire secondary school career. There are 60, if we assume they were used by one year group they have served 300 children for 4.5 years. The Hudls were purchased in September 14, when I left in July we had either 7 or 8 of our original 20, mainly due to battery issues.
Some hudls have been repaired due to damage to the screens, we have only had to replace ipads (under warranty) for broken screens, just cracks causes by clumsy hands for both.
I don't really know anything about ipad air.0 -

Funny you say that. I got gifted an Iphone 4.
Planned to use it in the car as a streaming media player.
such erratic performance with the cars bluetooth.0 -
Istuff is built to a specification Hudl is built to a price point .
I certainly would not expect a Tesco product to be better than Apple Samsung Nexus Sony etc .0 -

Premium products are never x times better than the basic unit they cost x times more than.
You can buy a halfway decent pair of binoculars for £200 or you can pay maybe £2,000 for a premium pair. Will you see 10 times better with the premium pair? No but for some the extra performance they do provide is worth the premium price.
Not a direct comparison between Apple and Tesco of course as for many the supposed extra swagger value is the clincher although the iPad almost certainly is better quality too.0 -
The Hudl is like a Ford Focus...like the focus its aimed at everyone...but at the price of less reliability.
The iPad is the Ferrari, it's built at a premium...it'll do everything it says on the tin reliably...
What an awful analogy. You actually think a Ferarri would be more reliable than a Ford Focus?
Certainly premium in terms of performance but not for reliability!
Also just as a note to others reading this thread, I read an earlier posts trying to compare the Hudl and the ipad based on the Ghz rating of the processor. You cannot compare processors based purely on the GHz as that alone is not a measure of the processors power.
A 3ghz Intel Pentium 4 is obviously not as fast as a 2ghz Core2Duo or a 1.8ghz i3 processor.
You can't use that to even compare within a single manufacturers range of processors let alone between different manufacturers.
You need to look at the benchmarking figures available on review websites to get an accurate comparison.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Hi,
My brother and mum both have Hudls and iPads. My brother says his is a lot better as there is more freedom to download stuff (especially for free!) and you can expand the memory which you cannot do on the iPad.
If you are worried about the brand then go for the iPad.. They are lovely to use and prettier to look at, but value for money wise Hudl all the way!
Hope this helps!0 -
Apple - Yesterdays technology, at tomorrows prices - TODAY !!0

Apple deliberately go out of their way to make it as difficult and convoluted as possible to get content on and off their devices, couple this with lack of expandable storage this makes for a poor user experience. The less said about the safari browser the better.
Nice hardware shame about the software.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
When the richest company in the world got that way by selling shiny stuff made in Chinese sweat shops at typically double the price of the competition you have to wonder how they managed to do that. Image appears to be everything in the modern world.0
