and mobile WiFi dongles aren't that expensive

It'd still be more convenient, when using it on the move, if it had built in 3/4G.

It'd also be lighter and more compact, and would save carrying two chargers.

At my last place of work we had some hudls, we found they slowed down considerably if you had more than two appa running in the back ground, we also had issues with the batteries to the point that most were sent back as the charge was last around an hour. They were heavily used, but it does suggest that longevity could be quite poor.

We also had some second generation ipads that were still working just fine and most battery capacity had been retained.

Support was a big thing for school, if a screen was broken a replacement ipad would be deliverer and the old one collected. With hudl it would take around 14 days to receive an envelope to post it in, then another four weeks for repair.

Personally I wouldn't buy either as I'm not a fan of tablets, however from personal experience if I was I wouldn't buy a hudl.

Why not use your mobile as a hotspot - only one contract then. An additional data contract for occasional use is hardly the money saving option I'd expect from a cheap tablet evangelist.

I only have a cheap flip phone, which doubles as a house phone, so saving the cost of a land-line.

It's not for occasional use, and it's also not a contract. It's PAYG.

It gets used all the time, with my PC and Hudl, and occasionally with a laptop.

Which isn't a long term financially viable option. Theres no point buying cheap if you have to buy several times, its a false economy.

The bottom line is, if you have to ask the question "Is an Ipad Air 2 really worth 3 times as much as a Hudl 2?"

    Then the answer is no.

    :D

I'm not sure that's always true.

Would an I-pad Air 2, really outlive three Hudls?

You could buy each student two Hudls, and still be 33% better off, than if you bought each of them an I-pad Air 2.

As above i always ask what do i want to do and what unit will let me do that .
General use most usually cover the bill nowadays , so it then comes down to best prices and value for money .
My old tablet Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) was picked up in a sale and with cashback . Fitted my then needs with add on SD Card and potentially not to hard to replace battery .OS outdated now but not really relevant as it stops nothing working . Plus its now running a hybrid Galaxy Tab S and Note 2014 OS that will keep me going for another year .
