National lottery changing this Saturday

Everything you need to know about the national lottery, except the winning numbers of course! It’s also worth remembering that many regular players, who choose the same numbers every week, are already essentially “entrapped”, fearing that the one week they don’t play will be the week their numbers will come up. It is unlikely that many of them will quit now.
The bottom line is that Camelot will have done its homework. Major decisions such as this are about increasing profits and if people do walk away in their masses then a return to the 49-ball version will be inevitable. But such a walk-out is unlikely to happen.
Whether the players are eternal optimists, blinded by the sheer size of the jackpot, or whether they are trapped into playing the same numbers just in case, my guess is that most current Lotto players will be able to ignore a change that only makes already extraordinarily long odds all the more extraordinary.

I had no problems stopping to play the lotto once they doubled the stake, and I was playing the same numbers every week.
I do play the Thunderball now, but I suppose they will destroy this one too. In which case, if that happens, I will do the same and stop playing altogether. The other option would have been to REDUCE The numbers and create more instances of people hitting the jackpot (thus creating more winners of smaller amounts), but I could see such a change generating jackpots of less than 1m which would suck, plus there's no guarantee that it will generate more action
When they started, we were given a choice. Thunderball for £500,000 - Lotto for £1,000,000+ (often between 4 or 5 millions) and Euromillions for many more millions than the Lotto.
Now what is the point of playing the Lotto with a bigger jackpot when the Euromillion will still give you a bigger jackpot than the lotto?
I would rather have many more people winning a smaller jackpot than fewer people winning more millions. I would have been happy winning £200,000 with 5 numbers and the bonus ball, but they even destroyed that, now you only win £50,000. Really not worth playing anymore.0 -
I stopped doing it when they upped the price too two quid per line."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
