Ah! Customers think anyone that operates the lottery terminal has the powers to do so as they say 'The winning ticket please':o:rotfl:
If I knew which numbers were coming out the next draw, I wouldn't be working as I predicted the numbers, bought a ticket and all 6 numbers come up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
In case anyone's wondering about the Derren Brown thing, he put some balls on a table, supposedly with the winning numbers on, but with the numbers hidden from view. After the lottery draw was made the balls were turned around to reveal - be astonished, ladies and gentlemen - the same numbers as in the draw.
Of course, the winning numbers were written on the balls after the draw was made. How exactly the numbers got onto the balls is the magician's trick - magnetic ink or a false wall are among the popular theories, Google it if this interests you. The crucial thing is that his chosen numbers were only revealed to the audience after the draw was made. If he'd actually predicted the numbers he'd've shown them before the draw.
There was also a lot of rubbish about the wisdom of crowds and automatic writing, if memory serves, which was essentially the bit where the magician waves his magic wand and goes "abracadabra". Except that it lasted a bloody hour. I enjoyed Derren Brown's Trick or Treat series but he jumped the shark with the lottery thing.
As for the numbers, you should choose any six consecutive numbers. All combinations have an equal chance of winning but no-one chooses consecutive numbers because they think it can't possibly happen. In reality 36,37,38,39,40,41 has equal chance of winning as (to pick a "typical" punter's sequence) 1, 4, 23, 29, 32, 48. But the latter might have been chosen by another three people whose children have the same birthdays, whereas 36-41 will have been chosen by nobody, so you get the winnings to yourself. Any six numbers apart from 1-6 and 44-49 (to avoid other people who've cottoned onto this).
It is true, as others have said, that high numbers (which are less likely to appear in significant dates) are better than low ones. But you need to follow the logic all the way through - a consecutive sequence is even less likely to be chosen by someone else.0 -
This draw happened:
https://www.lottery.co.uk/lotto/results-15-07-2015
Two people matched 6 numbers and won 440k each
The prize for 4 numbers was LOWER than the prize for 3 numbers
Or THIS DRAW https://www.lottery.co.uk/lotto/results-13-08-2014
Have to say but that is insanely rubbish....0 -

Re the increase in numbers and decrease in odds of winning the jackpot:
Well, here's another 'Bye bye UK Lottery'. It was fun at times. But you've just lost yet another customer.
Might have an occasional flutter on Euromillions, albeit only on the big rollovers. But that's it.
So long and thanks for all the fish.0 -
My great lotto conspiracy theory- all 'lucky dip' ticket buyers get the SAME numbers..
