You can't be serious. So every single man who has ever encountered me; the postman, the milkman, my male colleagues aged from 18 to 58, my neighbour's, my friend's husbands, the man on the checkout in Lidl, every last man wants to have $ex with me?

I know men (supposedly) think of sex more than women, but no way is this true.

Of course not every one of them, but I bet it's more than you imagine.

I'm not going to try to count the number of blokes I encounter then try some maths to figure how many apparently yearn for my body.

I'm mentally handing a frying pan to the OP's current girlfriend. 8 years & he still daydreams of Miss X? He'd better be a real honey in person with this as an idle mental hobby - but he's posting here?!
Nice heavyweight frying pan, plus a robust alibi...

You're missing the point. It's not that they WANT to have sex with you, but the thought will enter their head.

Well Petra you could argue the milkman, postman, checkout people aren't friends so have less time for any thoughts about sex to get in the way, but as for your work colleagues, you can bet they've all thought about it, ranked the ladies in the workplace in order etc.

A 29-YEAR-OLD woman believes that a man with whom she regularly socialises is her friend.

Retail manager Emma Bradford sees her relationship with colleague Tom Logan as being pretty much the same as her female friendships.

She said: “We’re just mates, we talk about rubbish telly programmes and drink beer and stuff. Actually we spend a lot of time together but it’s never even remotely weird.”

However Logan said: “Every time she mentions having been on a date, my heart shatters into a million pieces like a grenade made of pure sorrow.

“I wish I could tell her but she thinks I am her friend.”

She said: “He’s just really funny and completely non-sexual. It’s like we’re brother and sister, or like having a gay friend who isn’t gay.

“That’s not to say he isn’t good looking, just not to me. Fancying Tom would be like fancying a table or other item of furniture.

“We’re so cool that one time we even went to a fancy restaurant with a piano player, just the two of us! Tom thought it would be a laugh. I wasn’t even fully dressed when he arrived but he didn’t mind waiting as I tried on tops with him sitting on the bed.”

Logan said: “I remember thinking ‘this is it, this is it, this is it’, and being physically sick in her toilet.

“I almost said something then she asked my opinion about a local vet she fancies. I cried on the way home.

“It was an okay night, but not the best ever to be honest.”

DO NOT end your current relationship before you tell the "dream girl." If she doesn't feel the same, you'll be without anyone. Better to be with second best than no-one at all!

This is one of the most selfish comments I have ever read. :(

OP - whatever you do, break up with your current girlfriend. She deserves better.

Beta male. An Alpha male wouldn't stand for it....if they're interested in a woman, they tell them. No point wasting years of your life chasing somebody who isn't interested.

But Beta males think by becoming friends first, sooner or later she'll realise what a ''nice guy'' he is.

    In reality, it doesn't work.

I think the point is quite simple. I do agree with some of what other posters have said. However it’s not as simplistic (or stone age) as they’ve perhaps made out.
From experience, if I’m single – so recently! – I have found myself ‘checking out’ women fairly often. I’m not suggesting I want to jump into bed with all of them! But often might think she was attractive, or she seemed nice, or wow she’s gorgeous.
In years gone by I’ve had thoughts like that about girls who were friends, who still are friends and who I no longer find attractive. The initial interest was there, but those ‘feelings’ subsided as I got to know them.
I know for a fact that there’s been mutual attraction between myself and some of my friends girlfriends, but I’ve never acted on it as I don’t think that’s on at all. It’s not how everyone thinks, or feels, but I’ve certainly met people who are similar of both genders.
In fact my group of friends can be a bit too close sometimes. Many couples now, even who are married, used to date or FWB another person in the group. Personally that never floated my boat and all my ex partners were from outside my circle of friends.
When I’ve been in relationships, obviously those thoughts are less common. I think it’s part of human nature, to evaluate the initial impression of someone, whether that person could meet the criteria for a partner.
