I have plenty of female friends. Most of them i've met through dance where we've had intimate contact from dancing with eachother and its never crossed my mind to have sex with them!

The only 1 i have had sex with is my dance partner and that is because she was an ex girlfriend. Men can be friends with women without having sex. Some men, like me, just get on better with women :D

Of course men and women can be friends! I'm good friends with a very handsome guy who is 24 years my junior. We met at work and just clicked. There's no way that he would want to have sex with me, nor I with him (he's too near my son's age and I'm the same age as his mum!)

This doesn't stop us from being good mates, in fact, it probably makes it easier to be friends because that sexual frisson just isn't there. We've had a lot of sarky comments at work and he's always joking that I'm "yearning" for him because he's so luscious, I just tell him (and everyone else) that after my years of vast sexual experience, a few minutes of his inexperienced fumblings aren't really going to light my fire. It's just banter, if I propositioned him, he'd die of fright, and if he approached me, I'd probably just laugh. Yet, we're very close, I can tell him anything and he's told me things that he wouldn't necessarily tell his mum or girlfriend. We just get on and if we were nearer in age, we'd probably hang out together a lot more. But even though he's attractive, he doesn't attract me in a sexual way, I just like him because he's a nice bloke. And he likes me because we have the same sense of humour. There's nothing weird about it, my husband has met him and I've met his girlfriend. He really is just a mate!

That's lovely ^^^ :) I have a male friend like that. A man 7.5 years younger than me who is a real laugh and we have lots in common and he is very attractive, but we would never be any more than friends. I used to work with him and we see each other every few weeks now in passing. and him and me and several other ex colleagues meet up once a month for a drink/meal.

I have many male friends, and always have had, and no, there has never been anything sexual between us. Men and women CAN be just friends. :)

As a guy, no matter what woman you're "friends" with, the thought of shagging her is going to enter your head!

Wow. I suppose this explains the mentality of those ultra-possessive types who won't let "their woman" have any male friends and regularly check her phone and other private records for any hint that she's having it off with all their mates.

You've obviously had some pretty messed-up male role-models in your life. But maybe one day you'll learn how to get over your indiscriminate lust and paranoia.

You might not have met them yet, but there really are "nice" people out there who aren't so emotionally crippled that they can only experience shallow and meaningless relationships.

Well with me, my best female friend is the same age as me, and the first time I saw her my jaw hit the floor, she was (still is) very attractive. We met at work, she used to organise the works nights out, and initially I did think about asking her out, but as I got to know her I knew I could never have a relationship with her, we were too different, her world revolved around her pets and she wouldn't even contemplate an overnight stay away from home as she'd be away from them, whereas I love travelling and hate dogs, and other stuff like she was too "traditional" in her view of mens and womens' roles whereas I wanted more equality in a relationship.

And the idea of a one night stand or "friends with benefits" wasn't something I ever considered, I really stopped being attracted to her once I got to know her.

But her nights out were always brilliant fun, we've been drunk together so many times and really get on like a house on fire when out but never ever have either of us made a move on the other or even come close or even thought about it. Which is just as well as my wife is usually there :rotfl:

We exchange relationship advice all the time which is a bit daft really as we have completely different ideas as to relationships, but it probably helps getting a different perspective!

How do you get anything done? Fancying every woman you ever see must be awfully distracting!

I honestly don't believe men and women can be friends without sex entering into it. I'm sure a lot of women believe that, but trust me at one point that male friend has thought about having sex with you.

They can think what they like, as long as its just a thought i couldnt care less.

I think your point was meant to prove that men and women can just be friends without sex getting in the way but your words state the exact opposite!

No, not fancying - that's totally different. The thought crosses your mind.

That's what girlfriends are for. As a guy, no matter what woman you're "friends" with, the thought of shagging her is going to enter your head!

    :rotfl: Oh come on!!!

You can't be serious. So every single man who has ever encountered me; the postman, the milkman, my male colleagues aged from 18 to 58, my neighbour's, my friend's husbands, the man on the checkout in Lidl, every last man wants to have $ex with me?

I know men (supposedly) think of sex more than women, but no way is this true.
