Thanks for helping out BexTech, I forgot the reboot idea although when my computer messes up first thing I do is reboot.

I am glad you can confirm the device will work as an adaptor.
  • Tried calling them but they don't offered any service over the phone ... thanks broadbandbuyer...

I'll try that when I get in, once I get the IP is the rest relativity easy? Setting up the accounts etc

Well it took me about an hour with BexTech help, if you ask him nicely he will send you some data on what to set up.

It was my first time too and he helped me, the only problem I had was the device was faulty and would not boot and could not access the voice menu using the phone codes. Got a replacement and it went smoothly, don't forget you have to set rules in your router.

The ports I have set to my PAP2 are:

    10000 - 20000 UDP
    53 - UDP
    5060 - 5070 UDP

But you will have to check with your device and provider as I think some specify other ports.

I would advise making the IP on the decvice static but for now let it set it's own and get it working, the reason for a static IP is that if you reboot or add more computers the network they may use that IP for another computer and the VOIP would no longer work.

The same applies to computers and I always make static IP's for all the ones connected to my LAN.
  • Bex! Brit! It still is IP 0.0.0.0

I also just tried the other box, I bought two and just reading through the other recommended posts sometimes the VOIP is faulty... but this case it is not. Other ideaS?

  • Well to confirm the connections:
Zyxel RJ11 port - connected - Microfilter Modem
    Ethernet Ports
1 - connected - to Ethernet Port on VOIP
    2. - connected - to computer ethernet

    VOIP Router
Line Port - connection - empty
Phone Port - connected - to Phone base station
Internet port - connection - empty

Erm... that is it I think

Try it with the lead connected on the Internet port of the SPA to a port on the router.

Switch off router and SPA, then switch on router wait 60 seconds, switch on SPA wait around 30 - 60 seconds, then check the IP address again.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • OK I've removed the Zyxel Port 1 ethernet from SPA ethernet to Zyxel ethernet to SPA internet port, OK ?
