No of course security staff don't take the word of Betty from the fresh fish section as she's had no training...

What training could Betty from the fresh fish section require to inform a security guard that she has seen someone conceal an item about their person?

What if its a room that's been designed to take suspected shoplifters into? IE, minimal furniture and CCTV?

A correctly designed holding room would be the exception. Most uk shops don't have them.
With a vulnerable young person it's still not ideal

I await to hear from all the staff who agree with you. Bless..
I'd say, carry on taking young girls into rooms with you.
It's clearly acceptable to you, though the police themselves would never do it.

It's very frustrating arguing with people who aren't bright enough to understand the argument and resort to accusing the person you are arguing with a child molester.

At no single point in this thread have I said that it is acceptable for a man to take a 15 year old girl into a room on their own. I have made it quite clear it is unacceptable.

The point is that if that does happen it doesn't mean the 15 year old girl is going to be found innocent of the crime they are accused of.

I am now going to leave this debate with you as I think your posts are frankly offensive and although I don't mind insults on an Internet forum I think accusations of child abuse is a step too far.

She could inform him whatever she wanted.

    Not true.

I was working alongside an officer that had to escort a young female to the police station. He simply phoned into the control room and left his mobile phone open so the conversation was recorded.

On a similar nature, its just like a male officer can search/frisk a female. Not standard practice, but allowed in certain circumstances.

No you said it's a procedural issue.
I don't think you should be telling people on an Internet forum it's ok to do it. It's something no shop would allow.

If the shop has a room which has CCTV recording, there is no reason why a male cannot be in a room with a young female.

The problem with Betty is, the guards never met her and she's renowned for getting over excited when she sees anyone who looks a bit" iffy" she's not got the description of the person right and describes the person wrongly.

I think simply for reasons of her finding it upsetting it's not an ideal.
Vulnerably people need to be afforded extra consideration.
