My response from Michelle Donelan, Conservative MP for Chippenham
RE: Early Day Motion 458
Dear xxxxxxxx,
Thank you for your email. I certainly support the aims of this EDM and have spoken to Government ministers about it who are also aware of the growing problem.
I do not sign any EDMs because they are hugely expensive and achieve very little, but, as I said, I support the aims of this and will do what I can to influence Government thinking on it.
Best wishes,
Michelle0 -
Hopefully will see my MP on the listPrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0

MP Priti Patel's response:-
Members of the Government do not by convention sign Early Day Motions as doing so is
likely to breach the Ministerial code rules on collective responsibilty. However, I aware that
under existing laws and regulations all animals, including farmed poultry, must be looked
after in ways that meet welfare needs.
An explicit reference to the Farm Animal Welfare Council's 'five freedoms' states that
animals must be kept free from hunger and thirst, from discomfort, from pain, injury or
disease, from fear or distress and free to express normal behaviour. Regulations on housing
vary depending on how the birds are being raised, but in all cases it must allow essential
biological needs to be fulfilled.
Furthermore, under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, gamebirds must not be caused any
unnecessary suffering. Under this Act, a Code of Practice for the Welfare of Gamebirds
Reared for Sporting Purposes was drawn up based on research carried out by the Farm
Animal Welfare Council, advised by a working group that included animal welfare
organisations such as the RSPCA. It can be found at https://www.gov.uk by searching on the term
'Gamebirds'.
These rules are enforced by the Animal and Plant Health Agency, which carries out routine
welfare inspections and investigates complaints; prosecutions can be initiated where
necessary. I must note that game management plays an important role in the rural economy,
generating income and employment in some of our most remote communities. The sport of
shooting alone contributes in the region of £2 billion to the rural economy and supports the
equivalent of around 70,000 full-time jobs.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact me, I hope you find this information helpful.
If I can be of any further assistance on this or any other matter please get in touch again.
Which just goes to show that she dosn't even bother to read her emails properly. I will be responding with -
The EDM to which I referred has nothing to do with farm animals (unless they are susceptable to receiving PCNs from private parking companies).
It has, however, everything to do with protecting the motoring public from scheming PPCs who use a range of tactics (such as altering the time-stamp on their cameras to 'infer that the driver has been parked for longer than the allowed limit', or that residents are required to display a permit when parked in their own area (even though the residents lease makes no mention of this)).
I would suggest that you have another read of the EDM mentioned in the original email.
P.S.
If you should yourself become a victim of this industry of conmen, I will, despite being an English Democrat rather than a Conservative, still offer help and advice in getting the PCN overturned.

A Priti appalling response; hopefully your reply will shame her into taking a modicum of interest in looking after the British public who put their trust in her and her party last May!Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I'd sent a chaser email to my MP as I'd had no response nor seen any change to the EDM support list. I got the following reply today (slightly redacted).Dear Mr Xxxxxx
Dr Cameron, only returned to Parliament yesterday. It is her intention to sign this EDM.
Yours sincerely

Yes, that's all very nice in the way of an explanation but the fact that you had focused on the MP's name to illustrate your 'notion' tells a different story. I believe we would not be having this exchange had the MP been named Elsie Smith or some such.'People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.' That plus suggesting the MP can't read English rather than that she just can't read. Goodness knows we're all happy enough with jibes about MPs' intelligence but not when it appears to be linked to their race. Instead of getting on his high horse he might've been better advised re-reading his post to see why others (including the mods) saw it as racist. I suspect he now has an unnecessary strike against his account.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Shame really as he had made some useful contributions elsewhere.'People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.' Wizard's first rule © Terry Goodkind.0
