If your MP is not on the list of supporters, contact them to encourage them to sign up.
Early Day Motions don't actually 'happen' so this is just a show of hands and something your MP could easily support.
Point them to the UK PC debacle and the fact that the IPC have stopped allowing keepers to appeal as good reasons for needing a central code of practice. Or think of your own reasons.Dedicated to driving up standards in parking0 -
And they use the word 'f - - - s' !:mad::mad::mad:
Thankyou so much for this Parkrage. I'm an active member of my Party and am about to 'encourage' 2 MPs as we speak:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Interesting how smart parking have been singled out and its an SNP MP who has tabled it.
My MP has been contacted. I've also let her know that ever since our local shopping centre management employed one of these companies we no longer go there.0 -
"If your MP is not on the list of supporters, contact them to encourage them to sign up".
In fact, I'd already done this. Our MP is recognised as being the second most responsive MP in the country.
I also wrote to Steve Double (MP for Newquay) regarding the practices of Parking Eye at Tower Road. I had only a response from his secretary saying that he could do nothing as I am not a constituent, but suggesting I contacted my own MP - which I'd already done. It appears that Mr Double is more concerned with the effects of excessive seagulls on tourism, rather than the activities of ParkingEye. Anyway, I've just sent an email to my MP, expressing the hope that he'd signed up to the EDM, and asking him to ask Mr Double to do likewise.0 -
think lot's of people see an Early Day Motion as being impotent.....but it get's things noticed, ask Nelson MandellaIllegitimi non carborundum:)0

My MP has now been emailed and encouraged to sign up.
Respectfully pointed out that "Fines" are in fact "speculative invoices".0 -
Email sent to my MP asking for their support. Let's see what happens0

And for those that want an easy life, here's the text I have just emailed my MP ( who utterly failed to respond to me during his election campaign when I asked him about private parking ! ) :
As a constituent I request you sign the following Early Day Motion - http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2015-16/458
Private Parking Companies are currently out of control and using methods that could be labelled harassment and bullying. Many try to claim well in excess of the amount they are legally entitled to do so via contractual law. This most affects vulnerable and elderly people whom I assume you would join me in wishing to protect.
As a campaigner against these types of companies I believe our elected representatives have let us, the general public, down. They have allowed private parking companies and the British Parking Association (BPA) to hoodwink them into providing Registered Keeper liability under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 with the promise that it would reduce the number of court cases. The exact opposite is the case, the number of court cases has increased by a multiple of three figures.
DVLA have also been allowed to sell, at a huge profit, Registered Keeper details with barely any checks. DVLA claim that it is the BPA’s responsibility to ensure compliance yet the BPA is made up of the exact private parking companies that carry out this harassment. Worryingly some public bodies such as councils and NHS trusts belong to the BPA."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0
