But would that beast's emissions pass the regulations too? I would suspect they are fairly toxic.0

Vauxhall may be involved as well.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Looks like a group of patriotic Germans entirely independent of VW are looking to drag others into the scandal. It could have a mitigating effect on VW's predicament.
I hope VW have been busy focussing on the customers they defrauded and not looking for ways to cover their rear ends (pardon the pun if there is one!).Mornië utulië0 -

everyone who tried to sell turbo diesels was in on it. the emissions standards were so hard that it was scientifically impossible to achieve the targets.0 -
Morning,
My VW has been recalled for the ECU "fix" whilst at the same time the EGR valve (also part of the emissions sanction) has decided to go pop.
I have a complaint in with VW regarding this, whilst also explicitly informing them that I have no intention of letting them "FIX" my car.
Does anyone have further info about the compensation situation? VW offered me £5800 for my car (trade in) which is a little over half that I paid for it 2 years ago.0 -

I got an email from a NWNF lawyer yesterday saying there had been some progress. Text below:
"VW Emissions Scandal Update
10th January 2017
Our ref: MMR/MIL
Dear Mr Sam Wardill
Claim Update
As you may have seen or heard in the news yesturday, Court action is now proceeding in respect of the claims against VW (and associated companies: Audi, Skoda, & SEAT) in respect of the emissions scandal.
You have previously expressed an interest to this firm that you wish us to act for you in pursuing such a claim.
We write to you now, by way of a quick update, to let you know the position in light of the press coverage, but intend to write to you again in the near future with a more detailed update, and possibly with a request for further information from you.
However, in the meantime: Proceedings are being brought against the above companies, seeking damages as a result of the Defendants’ misrepresentations made to consumers in respect of the emissions levels of certain of their diesel powered vehicles manufactured between 2009 and 2015.
Damages claimed will include damages for loss of value of the vehicle, the costs of remedial action and any additional fuel consumption, as well as damages for inconvenience, frustration, upset or disappointment. Mention has been made in the press of an approximate figure of £3000 per claimant, and whilst this may be a reasonable estimate, it cannot at present be confirmed as an accurate assessment of the level of damages that a Court might award to a claimant.
The Court has set a date of 30th January 2017 to hear representations from Solicitors representing all of the potential Claimants, and will make a decision as to whether to make a ‘Group Litigation’ Order (known as a “GLO”). If a GLO is made, this will have benefit for each potential claimant, as it will likely reduce the costs of making a claim and speed up the overall process. This is because a GLO will make provision for all of the legal issues to be dealt with on one occasion, rather than in each individual claim. The solicitors for the defendants are currently opposing this.
Once the hearing has taken place, we will be writing to you again to let you know the outcome and provide a full update as to how your claim is likely to proceed, and details of how the likely costs of making a claim can be funded (e.g. no win-no fee, etc).
In the meantime, we would be grateful if you would confirm your continued interest in pursuing a claim through ourselves by responding to vw@jefferiessolicitors.com<mailto:vw@jefferiessolicitors.com>

I'm waiting to see. If VW have any sense they will announce an offer and then it makes no sense to use a lawyer.0
