If a car is being officially recalled, are you saying there isn't a fault? Stop being so pedantic.0 -

Have you had your letter from VW yet? If you have, do you want to tell us how many times the words 'official' and 'recall' appear in it?0 -

Ah ok, I didn't realise the UK government had responded to that. Whether it's an official mandatory recall or not, the fact remains that the vehicle is being recalled for repair.0 -

When did you buy your car?
If it was before 1st October, then The Consumer Rights Act will not help you.
Read MSE's Consumer Rights Act news item for more information.
Here is a very short extract:It [The Consumer Rights Act] will only apply to things bought from Thursday [1st Oct] though – the current rules will continue to apply to everything bought before then, even if the problem occurs after 1 October.
Even if you bought your vehicle after 1st October you would have no claim. That is because by the time you made your purchase you should've been aware of the issues.0 -
Under new consumer protection laws owners of VW may be entitled to up to 100% of the purchase price back plus any consequential losses. See https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/409334/bis-14-1030-misleading-and-aggressive-selling-rights-consumer-protection-amendment-regulations-2014-guidance.pdf. It was the Citizens Advice Consumer Service that told me about this. They don't think it doesn't apply.0

I think the legislation that applies to the VW scandal came into play in October 2014 not 2015.0
