  • I hope you had a really great time, Sugarplum, and have come back raring to go with the money-making:beer:

Somerandom, sorry to hear of your eBay woes. I have a love-hate relationship with it, although more hate at the moment:(. I used to absolutely love it in the early days but what with all the changes and regs they keep bringing in and the more cut-throat nature of a lot of the buyers I only use it when absolutely desperate:o. Have 30 auction items listed to end tomorrow evening and so far not a single bid, although lots of watchers. Fingers crossed some of it will sell. If it doesn't I'm not relisting, I'll take it to the charity shop. I feel bad about not supporting them much these days, I used to give loads to charity but being so short of money myself has made me mean and I don't like feeling that way:o

Commiserations too to welshgirl, but don't feel bad about how much you've made as it is a lot more than you had at the start of the month and there's still half the month to go. Good Luck:beer:

Anyone who's made anything lately, well done you:j

Hi Carboot - Thanks for the support - I can relate to everything you can say especially the bit about giving to the Charity Shops - I'm the same - I keep thinking I "should" try to sell stuff as things are tight but so often I sell something on eBay and end up with so little I wish I'd given it to a Charity Shop - especially as the "gods of the Charity Shop" are often very kind to me :rotfl:. I am on the verge of just giving most of the stuff to the Charity Shop & trusting in the Universe that what I need (ie money) will come to me... All sounds a bit "woo woo" but it feels right.

I have complete admiration for those who can make eBay work for them :T

Blimey the Universe works quickly - decided to take the clothes I'd intended to sell to the Charity Shop - 2 sacks full - came home to find that my eBay non-payer had finally got around to paying :rotfl: £14.50 to add to my total.

    Karma !

I have done so well from charity shops in the past, when I really needed them, that I take all my stuff to cs anyway. It feels a bit like 'putting something back' IYSWIM.

Still get the odd thing from there as well, though now being mentally more frugal, I don't often buy things anymore. Think it's partly due to being on these MSE threads :D

  • Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend so far!
My onepoll payment has appeared in my bank account so that's £40 to add :)
Also, after finding that my oyster card had stopped working (only make occasional trips to London) I thought I'd claim back my deposit and just use a contactless debit card in future. Logged into my account and found I also had £15.65 of credit sitting on the card so have had £20.65 refunded altogether. It's not often I forget where I've left bits of cash so that was a nice surprise :)

    Hi,

It's not going well for me... I've not made anything for the last few days. Must try harder :)

I have some bits on Ebay but I wanted some advice... I have loads and loads of old books. Nothing special, just fiction paperbacks. Years ago I used to sell them on Amazon and make a little money. But now, I don't know if it's worth it as most of the books I have are selling for 1p and the postage credit would barely cover the cost of posting the item.

I was thinking of doing a Car Boot sale (there is one near me that's open all year round and charges £7.50 for a pitch). Does anyone have experience of selling books and any ideas? Or should I just forget it and donate them to the church jumble sale?

Oooh - I just listed something and within the time it took to make a brew, I had a bid. How exciting. Should have started at a higher price. :rotfl:
