Thanks to everyone who sent birthday greetings to DD, she'll be tickled.
helyg - love those lavender bags. sunflower76 so glad you are over your op and able to look on the bright side, a positive outlook will speed you recovery.
Today's pleasures:-
1. All the house cleaned through thanks to help from DH. He's so good and helpful, I feel very blessed.
2. Homegrown lettuce and assorted salad leaves on the salad for lunch, I'm saving £££'s on my salads:T
3. Lunch eaten in the summer house in glorious sunshine, like a summer's day, well better really because in the full heat of summer it's too hot to sit in there mid-day and I would be sneezing my head off with the pollen
4. Made 8 cards this afternoon ready for my October consignment to go to DH's old workplace. The September consignment is in there at the moment and hopefully will be earning me some money.
5. Nice cheap meal tonight of ox-heart cooked in a tin of tomatoes with an onion and a couple of bay leaves, in the slow cooker, served with homegrown cabbage and chard, another triumph of economy.

Sunflower76 - what a sunny attitude you've got, I'm full of admiration for you and the way you're dealing with your situation, hang in there x
1. I'm SO proud of DD, her teacher came up to me at hometime to tell me what a delight she is to have in her class, and she's impressed with her intelligence, writing, behaviour etc etc. I was so proud I could have cried!
2. Diet group was great tonight, I've now lost all the weight I put on during my absence, so am back on the level playing field, roll on the rest of my time, or should I say roll off the pounds
3. Bought a couple of new items from charity shop, much smaller sizes than I thought would really work for me, yippee!! (Yippee, both at the price and the sizing)
4. Know that I'll be able to take something new back to a shop as the charity shop purchase will be perfect instead
5. The sunshine!0 -
Sunflower - you must have had a traumatic couple of weeks. This is the sort of news that every woman must dread being told. Do hope you continue to improve and that all will be well for you.0

I'm full of admiration for you Sunflower :T, I hope I could be as positive if ever in a similar situation.
Newlywed well done for getting by in the black (even if only just!) til payday
re your coach trip Caterina, pleased yours went without a hitch and you enjoyed Hastings, it a lovely old place isn't it
Kittikins your DD sounds a real joy, you two sound as though you're going to be best friends for as very long time to come. Excellent new on the weight front, well done
My blessings..
1.after reading about Caterina's and Ollie's trips, spending a happy hour (no not that sort ha ha) looking through a photo album and reminiscing about the trips 'my' residents and I went on when I was working.
2. Had a DEXA scan this morning, appt was for 10.45am and I was driving out of the car park at 10.56am! I was a bit early but didn't expect to be called in straight away
3. planting my hanging baskets and troughs for winter with, among other things, lots of pansies with their sweet smiley faces
4. being able to appreciate the sight and smell of laundry drying on the line at the end of September
5. sitting her in my freshly changed bed, knowing that in a few minutes I'm going to put my head on my pillow, close my eyes and thank God for all the blessings I've been given today :A
Night night all, God bless n sweet dreams

Good Morning everybody  - yet another overcast start to the day, but once again not too bad at all for late September - no rain or high winds
.
Reverbe - well done on your freebies, YS stuff and focus group. I was wondering if those kind of groups would be of any use to faithcecilia on one of her threads? Do you have to be 'in the know'to be able to get in on them?
newlywed - hey well done you :j getting to payday with stuff in the freezer (strange combos don't matter between family/friends). Enjoy your day out at the weekend - I googled Spinnaker Tower and it looks fabulous - very elegant structure though I don't usually go for 'modern-style' architecture - very appropriate for the waterfront.
Caterina - :T you on shopping at 8.00am - I went at 7.00 (for cake decorations/candles!) a few weeks ago and it felt like a scene from a very surreal movie - but it does give a great sense of achievement that you've done your shopping BEFORE others are even up and out of bed . Enjoy your head/shoulders massage - sounds very relaxing.
helyg - love your lavender bags :T - have you ever put a small hanging loop on them so they can go on a coat hanger inside the wardrobe as well as inside a drawer? That meal sounds delicious; you'll definitely deserve it after all that cycling and the boys being at sports club.
Primrose - what a privilege to have a badger visit your garden.
sunflower76 - I'd like to add my thoughts to those who have already wished you well - ((((HUGS)))) - so sorry to hear your news but pleased to know that you've had your op and are now on the way to recovery :j. It's awful when things 'outside our control' take over where we're concerned, but keep up your positive attitude and take your strength from those who love you. God Bless.
bella - good to hear you and OH can still sit and have lunch in the garden at this time of the year. Also well done on continuing with your card-making.
zarazara - enjoy your veggies from your neighbour and pls give the furry friend a cuddle from me
Kittikins - :T to your DD on her settling in so well in school. And :T:T to you too for getting back into the diet so quickly.
sparrer - well done on getting your baskets/troughs ready for a display of colour in the winter months. I salvaged a box of photos from past trips when we moved out of the old scheme. My daughter loves going through them, as she knew all the tenants while she was growing up and many of them are no longer with us now. Every trip told a story of its own - some pleasurable, some disastrous and many downright hilarious!
Let's see now, yesterday ...........
1. Had the Fire Service here testing smoke/fire detectors in all the tenants' homes. All safe and working properly :j and a bit of 'eye candy' for me .
2. Dug out some Pea and Ham Soup from the freezer for lunch yesterday - very welcome it was too on such a chilly day!
3. Two loads of laundry washed and dried on a combination of line/airer.
4. NSD :j - should think NOT after my weekend/midweek shopping trips. Has anybody else spotted the 1%fat Arla milk at 45p for 2 litres - in Asda this week? Never had it before, but got three bottles. I forgot to add into my bargains for Wednesday - a lovely piece of 'Boneless Rib Roast' reduced from £10.14 to £7.00 - which is now stashed for Christmas Day Lunch(unless we get DD&Co. for Christmas Day, in which case, it will be for New Year instead).
5. Bacon, eggs, tinned toms, mushrooms, fried bread for evening meal last night - don't often have bacon at all, so this went down a real treat.
6. Also got some Lamb's Liver the other evening half of which will be cooked for tonight's tea and I'll freeze the remaining half for another day. We can have it with carrots, green beans and mash .
7. Kim and Aggie on TV last night - always makes me feel so much better when I see the state of some other people's homes- but how the heck did we ever manage in a one-bedroomed flat
. Then again, there weren't five dgk's around in those days!
8. Won my bidding on ebay yesterday - princely sum of 1p (I was the only bidder - after all who else would want a 1947 edition of a children's 'Learn to Read Book' :rotfl:) plus £1.74 post and packing.
That's me done for this morning - I'll try to pop back in again later, if I get chance. love to all, Ollie xxx0 -
Hi all,
Sparrer, I have to stay in the black - I'm not allowed any red (DMP) so would get such huge charges it wouldn't be worth itGood to finish the month with slightly more than a quid though
Sunflower, hugs to you. A friend went through the same thing a little while ago. Hope there's not much extra treatment needed for you.
Caterina, I used to love Hastings old town, all the little second hand shops to rummage in. There, Tunbridge Wells Pantiles and Lewes are my favourite rummage about in second hand shops towns
Anyway, here's mine:
1. The sun shining.
2. Still being ok with breathing.
3. Eating reduced toffee muffins last night with the step kids - I don't often buy cakes - these were tasty though.
4. Looking forward to our day out tomorrow - I'm just a big kid really
5. Having a full tank of petrol.
6. Feeling content and at peace with the world generally today.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
helyg - love your lavender bags :T - have you ever put a small hanging loop on them so they can go on a coat hanger inside the wardrobe as well as inside a drawer?
Thanks Olliebeak, the ribbon which ties the tops of them is actually tied into a loop at the back so that they can be hung on coathangers, its just you can't see it in the picture.0 -
Hugs to Sunflower and all who need them. xx
