Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments
-
1) Birthday party yesterday at a friend's house. Lovely food, lots of wine and we were able to look out at the rain from their lovely summer house. She asked for money for the pamper fund for her present and was proudly showing off her pedicure as we arrived.
2) Going to the allotment today and harvesting onions, red cabbage, beetroot and beans. I got very wet but once I was soaked through, I thought I might as well carry on
3) Pickling beetroot and bottling the veg (as an experiment). I can hear the lids snapping back down into place as I type, which is very satisfying. I feel that if it works, I am really making the most of our produce
No more for today but I think it's been a good one anyway.0 -
For yesterday:
1 - managed to clear lots of little things at work that I'd been ignoring!
2 - the closest thing I suspect it's possible to get to a compliment from my boss
3 - My friend got a great new job, very well deserved so I'm really chuffed
4 - Think the healthy diet is starting to work and I'm feeling and sleeping much better!
5 - Had a rumage around in the wardrobe to see what would go together in different ways and came up with a few new outfits........without having to buy new clothes
Have a great day

Hi all,
Here's mine....
1. Reading a library book and finding OS tips and possible supplements that might be a more natural way to help some of my stomach problems (The Healthy Gut Guide).
2. A present of a jar of Black Cherry Preserve from someone's Yorkshire holiday (black cherries are my favourite... now I just need some toast)
3. Going to bed early and feeling much more rested - even though I woke a couple of times in the night.
4. OH nearly finishing staining the border edging - so nearly time for planting
5. Finding a nice campanula in flower in homebase so the border will have a splash of instant colour (everything else going in seems very green just now).
6. Feeling content with my life.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Good morning to one and all
sparrer - lol at kiwi's quiet day - wouldn't like to be there when she's busy :rotfl:
newlywed - your garden plans sound fabulous - campanulas are such a gorgeous colour.
firstyear - (please forgive the nickname) - lol at your DD - little lady who knows her own mind already!
Louba - that sounds like a great weekend - company of good friends, good food and a lovely walk in the countryside :j and well done on feeling the benefits of your 'new lifestyle'.
Caterina - ((((HUGS)))) for you and DH. That soda bread sounds like a great idea - may give it a go myself.
Reverbe - Well done on getting into a Focus Group - love those. And also on your Mystery Shop - not had one of those for around a year now - keep getting beaten to them in my area lol.
savingforoz - good to find a nice garage man- and Bon Voyage for Thursday.
Kittikins - (((hugs))) for your 'fright night' - it's awful when things like that go through your head all night long.
Patchwork - Great productive day. Must give a good feeling to know that all those jars are from your own efforts.
1. Was asked by DS2 to make a birthday cake for dgs3's first birthday - jumped at the chance (he's one of the milk/lactose intolerant ones). Bought all the ingredients at the weekend, made the cake last night and then discovered no Icing Sugar grrrrrrrrrr:mad:!
2. Thank goodness for Asda being open 24hrs - was in there at 7.00am this morning looking for Icing Sugar.
3. Cake is now sandwiched with Buttercream (made with Pure Organic Soya spread) and jam and glace iced with little icing decorations (shop-bought I confess). Now sitting in a tin in the fridge awaiting collection later today.
4. I've got a viewing at 11.00am this morning for an empty property on my scheme. It's an upstairs flat, so can be hard to find tenants for these - fingers crossed.
5. DD has a viewing, also at 11.00am, for a three-bedroomed house a couple of miles away. I wish she was looking closer to me, BUT maybe this will make her stand on her own two feet a little better.
I'll be back in again later to check on posts. Have a good day everybody - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hi all
Reverbe, I see that you are back on form picking up pennies, just a thought, have you ever tried to count how much you pick in a year? I remember reading in the book of the woman living on £1 per day that she made some £130-something on found money! It might be worth counting, just for the fun of it!
Ollie, the soda bread was such a success that I made another one! I now can make the best soda bread east of Dublin, to be sure, to be sure! LOL
Newlywed, I am also interested in the Good Gut Guide book, I have had all sorts of stomach problems, so I shall check that in my local library - thanks for the info!
Today, only lunchtime and so many pleasures already! Here are some, surely more will occur as the day goes:
1 - Cup of tea in bed courtesy of DH
2 - Feeling "back to normal" in my daily life and routines, no great excitement but no disruptions either, just quite a simple, peaceful life. I love it.
3 - Being around my kids and their friends, they really keep me cheerful and young!
4 - My friend (and colleague) came this morning early to do some work with me (I do all the admin for her too) so all my work was done and dusted by 11:30.
5 - The good, friendly chatting about life, universe and everything, with my friend before, during and after work was being done.
6 - Anticipating my lentil and rice soup to be made with yesterday leftover veg water, leftover rice from two days ago and red lentils - with some veg from the garden, probably a few leaves of kale.
7 - The kefir that a kind OSer gave me, it was milk kefir but it is now working ever so well as grape juice kefir, I am having a cup of fizzy fermented juice every morning (I wonder if it is actually being turned into wine and this is the REAL reason why I am so happy?:rotfl:)
Have a good day everybody! xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Ohh, let me know if this works! I've been trying the Acid / Alkaline diet, not sure of the author. I have recurring problems with my stomach and am currently taking acid inhibitors on a short term basis but have been looking for ways to either avoid the problem or treat it naturally.
Just been to the independent health shop see how much some of the suggested supplements (for my particular stomach issues) are.... vit b complex - £8 - magnesium chelate - £9 and couldn't even find the probiotic one recommended
Decided to try vit B to start with and maybe add magnesium next month
And ones I will try:
Drinking 2 litres of water a day helps keep a healthy bowel apparently
Apparently drinking warm water with lemon juice first thing in the morning helps stimulate the liver and assist the bowels (if you get me drift).
