Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Good Morning all
A very cool damp morning in Merseyside - looks like it rained quite a bit during the night but at least dry for now.
catznine - oh dear - thoughts of Hallowe'en already - where has the year gone to
Kittikins - Well done on your weekend with DD and her friend - sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves.
sparrer - good trip to your DM- mine gets me doing alterations as well . With working in a charity shop, she comes home with all kinds of bargains and then wants them altering to fit :rotfl:.
kiwiblue - good to hear you're coming out the other side of your winter- just as we're getting the darker evenings. Great news on your buttermaking, vegetable plot and OH's fishing trip. Good Luck with the fish-smoking experiments.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Not much sleep Saturday night with dgs3. Finally had to make him a bottle at 3.00am - which he guzzled around 3ozs of and then fell asleep. He was wide awake around 6.30 again but left him in his cot while making him another bottle. He played really nice for a while with some toys in the cot while I downed TWO cups of 'full caffeine coffee' - had a feeling I was going to need something to keep my eyes open :rotfl:. His Auntie Lisa arrived to collect him around 10.30 :j and I turned my living room back into something resembling normality (meaning usual organised chaos instead of disorganised chaos).
2. Finished off more laundry and got it dry on the line and then airer.
3. Dozed off on the sofa while trying to be supportive to OH watching England win the Ashes - was vaguely aware of 'THE MOMENT' (recall hearing something like 'Take that you £*%/@&*s' shouted/screamed) but then sank back into oblivion.
4. Evening meal of grilled rump steak (SmartPrice) with new potatoes and microwaved carrots - absolutely delicious . Left-over potatoes have been turned into potato salad with the addition of some mayonnaise and chopped chives - there's lunch for today.
5. DD phoned last night - she will need to come around today to use the phone - has more properties that she wants to arrange viewings for so fingers crossed yet again. Better get the [STRIKE]prison[/STRIKE] oops travel cot back out again to put dgd2 in to play for a while .
6. Really good sleep last night - despite having slept on sofa for a couple of hours. Even woke up BEFORE my alarm went off this morning.
7. Rubbish and Recycling bins all out on the front for collection this morning. One black bag in rubbish and recycling is almost full to the top.
Hope we get some decent weather today - rain is forecast for us for the entire week- but you never know as the Met Office often get it wrong.
Have a good day everybody, (((((HUGS))))) to all and speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
just slipping in a quickie..Kiwi I was reading through your post at all the hydroponics, fishing, cheese and cream making, practicing with the new smoker etc etc, and you end with
'Quiet peaceful day today'..
Good for you, but it's left me feeling quite exhausted!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hi all, hugs to all those who need them.
Glad to see you safely back Caterina.
1. OH spending ages putting in the log roll border in the garden and making sure it was secure, level etc
2. Choosing which plants to put in my new border (as well as in the raised bed OH plans to build later)
3. OH planning to stain the log edging, then we just need decorative stones over the weed fabric and my plants can go in (apparently I have to wait till all that's done )
4. The kids being happy to be back with their dad after a few days away with their mum.
5. My mum got me a ryvita size tub for OH's crispbreads and it's a posh lakeland one
6. It being too hot on saturday to cook casserole so did chicken breast pizzas and salad instead and us all enjoying it.
7. To go with the salad, cooking pearl barley with some peas, sweetcorn, cumin, garam masala and garlic and the kids scoffing the lotworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
My 5 for the weekend :T
1. Having a lovely quiet Friday night in with DF- nowhere to go and no visitors!! Its lovely every once and while!!
2. Getting the wedding gift list finished on saturday!! V. stressful as DF says I look too slowlybut its finished now!!

Caterina - glad you're back safely and things seem to be going in the right direction for you.
Kittikins I'm positively salivating at the thought of your vodka and it's not even lunch time!
I had a lovely relaxing weekend with my sister so mines for the weekend are:-
1 - going exploring and finding a nature reserve with a lovely walk along the sea
2 - catching up on lots of gossip with my sister
3 - lots of yummy but healthy food on Saturday night with a bottle of sparkling wine brought by my sister
4 - A lovely lazy day on Sunday reading and pottering around the house
5 - The best sleep in ages last night, must be the healthy food and lots of fresh air, long may it continue
6 - finishing my book, 100% pure escapism!
7 - OH and I had a long conversation about how long we would stay in our current home - it was only ever really meant to be a stepping stone, and deciding that we would start looking late next year for a more permenant homw. Its ages away but I'm a targets kind of girl and it means I have a concrete reason to pay down my mortgage and save for somewhere new :j
Have a great week all.

Hi all
Thank you for your lovely words as always! The weekend has seen us getting back on course and things are back to normal but hopefully even better. I am full of hope and positive feelings.
Kiwiblue, I agree with Sparrer's comment above, it is lovely to read of your amazing activities but don't you ever get tired? It sounds like you are on the go all the time, you amazing person!
Here are a few blessings:
1 - The soda bread I made yesterday came out really lovely and everybody enjoyed it very much - what a revelation, so quick to make, so tasty!
2 - Loads of veg from the garden, making up at least half of our meals
3 - The backache that has been plaguing me for a few days is getting better and I managed a good night sleep.
4 - Things are back on course with DH (who I can call "D" H again without gritting my teeth hehe)
5 - The weekend weather was lovely and left me with a warm glow, the sunshine has an amazingly healing effect on me (typical Leo!).
6 - Been in touch with my OS friend Marie from Dublin
7 - This morning I had a lovely full body massage from a lady who came into my home to do it (to help back ache) - what a difference from that disastrous "pizza oil" experience around my birthday! Today's treatment left me truly relaxed and my back much less tense.
8 - Lunch with DS, mushroom and parsley omelette and baked beans, and salad from the garden. We both enjoyed it very much.
Loads still to come no doubt but now I got to try and do some work!
Love to all
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

My five:
1. Finding a fun pair of comfy lemon coloured slippers in Sainsburys for just a fiver :j.
2. The very nice man at my local garage repairing my car for free - well, he tried to, but I believe in paying for what I use/need/take, so we've agreed that I'll drop in some cash later this week (neither of us had change at the time) :T.

Monday has come around very quickly....but at least it's evening now
1. Working from home today and being able to potter about a bit and cross a few to do's off my list whilst maintaining my ultra-speedy, professional approach with workI love multi-tasking!
2. Selling a book on A this evening, more for the mortgage pot, I've already lost track....oops!
3. Having a horrible, nearly sleepless panicky night thinking I'd left my passport, marriage certificate and birth certificate on my desk on Thursday and wondering if they'd still be there, as of course I wouldn't have put them back in their usual hiding place, I knew I hadn't, and wondering how quickly I could get a replacement passport - then getting up this morning and discovering I had been unusually prompt in tidying them away!! What a numpty....
4. Finding 1p whilst tidying up a kitchen drawer.
5. DD's "big sister" friend coming over again this evening, them playing and then having a huge dinner together and now they're upstairs reading a bedtime story. It's lovely for DD to have this great friend, we're very lucky.
6. Feeling sleepy after smelling DD's lavender-scented bath and thinking that I'll turn in reasonably early tonight with a good book and then try to get up early for a swim in the morning.
Hugs to all0
