[Sparrer I have an OH and also I dont know a single thing about this person apart from the fact that they like river cobbler...[/QUOTE]
In which case Reverbe you did the right thing, going with your instincts. Please don't be offended that I was pleased for you, you've just been sounding down for a little while and I think some of us (naughty matchmakers that we are!) saw it as an opportunity for you to make a new friend.
I'll say no more about it...but I can't stand river cobbler meself! :rotfl:

I'm not in the chirpiest moods today as the cold water tap has snapped off and then the washing machine is on the blink so I'm concerned about how much this is going to cost and also how long it will all take to get sorted.
Anyhoo, yesterday's pleasures...
1) Driving through a tremendous rain shower but finding that it was dry and bright at sports club for the boys.
2) Chatting with the mums at sports club.
3) Feeling happy to see my DH when I picked him up from work.
4) Vegetable paella in the new pan I bought from Spain.
5) Watching Big Brother with some naughty ice cream.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hello folks....thank you for your kind words. Isn't it amazing how your mood can be lifted just as much by a mention on here, as a smile infects your face out in the real world
What's even better is this one type of infection you want to spread across all of Humanity!
Here's a few of my 'special' moments from yesterday....
- I managed to cook hard boiled eggs for salad :j I'm an absolute terror for getting me 'ard n' dippy ex wrong
but the diners were most complimentary
- the smell of fresh baked bread...TWICE! Guess tis the Season of chunks of bread & butter to accompany a salad [my lot refuse to eat new potatoes
]
- me muvva not wanting to go too far so stayed around very local shops..I was not in the mood for wandering yesterday so this was a bit of a rarity
- chatting to two different folk who we haven't seen in a long while..reinforces the 'must stay local more often' mantra
- young lad from a neighbour's who broke his arm at the week-end, laughing like a drain when No1 drew a pint of beer & "Wrong sort of Plastered"on his 'temporary' cast! He's promised to come back this evening so No1 can do some more art-work on the new one:rotfl:

Thank you very much for the good wishes. The exam went as well as one could expect - well prepared and not particularly nervous but my brain seized up a little until I got into my stride.
So here goes
1) The train ride into the city to take my exam - we live in such a green and pleasant land.
2) Meeting my brother afterwards. He works in the city and we hardly see each other - in fact, we don't have much in common any more but the goodwill is there and we had a nice lunch together, which only cost me £10.
3) Book club last night - a glass of wine and a nice chat. Not may churches have a Sci-fi and Fantasy Book club and DD keeps on teasing me, saying they're all Trekkies but hey, I'm being myself
That's it. I'm a bit brain dead at the moment but I've enjoyed reading everyone else's blessings. Have a nice evening, everyone0 -
Back after a fair break but it's lovely to have the chance to read everyones posts.
BlimusOreilly glad you had a fab time in Barcelona! Caterina congrats on your twins b'day - you must be a very happy mummy it sounds like you all had a great day.:j
BigMumma i hope you are still managing to find blessings in a difficult time for you- here's to more good days!
Ampersand i love your saying in your post 'Let us hold onto these happy things; no fees for overdrafts from the memory bank' - i may have to borrow that one! and how many pleasures you managed to find -
Reverbe - glad you went with your instincts but it is always nice to be asked - ha ha now i'm old and married i do look very fondly on my misspent youth!!
My blessings for today:
1. reading a great graphic novel lent to my by a friend - not my usual read but it was gripping!
2. lovely sunshine again and all the windows open to let the fresh air in
3. seeing my free little herb plants grow and flourish
4. looking foward to homemade salad nicoise for dinner with a glass of chilled 1/2 price wine and my lovely DH!
5. after nearly 3 months i'm finally starting to feel more settled in my job - even if it does keep me a bit busier than my OS lifestyle really fits in with:p
blessings to you all and large squishy hugs for thems as wants em!

Evening everyone
Hope your day in the sun was a lovely one. Thanks Olliebeak for the encouragement re SAHMing, i do know it will be worth it in the end and don't for one second resent the time and effort i put in to making my children's childhood memorable. It is hard that society doesn't often view SAHM/D's (nor working ones for that matter) in a positive light though, especially the HMRC pensions people
My pleasures today (and one from late yesterday)- Listening to and smelling the summer rain and thunder last night. Summer storms always seem so magical and full of energy and great for my strawb and goosegog plants.
- Washing two loads before breakfast and getting them on the line to dry.
- Using distilled vinegar in the wash to get rid of the stinky armpit smells from DH's shirt.
- Finding out that one of my tips is to be featured in the weekly email, fame at last, feeling absurdly proud at the fact i have been able to give something back
- An impromptu afternoon tea in the park with DD after discovering to my delight that she loves almond croissants (they were handing out samples and selling them at reduced price in Waitrose), not exactly OS at the price but an unexpected pleasure.
- Free sweet thai chilli dipping sauce handed out in town today.

Just in, it now being too dark to dig, too nighty-night to plant and having spent a few lurky moments before putting kitchen light on,[1] just gazing out at my evolving fairyland.
But s-m, spotting the magic word 'croissants' in your post tempts me to [2]try one of mine before morning...:o Congrats, too, on your Many Moments of Fame to come. Shall have to check which tip is yours!
...especially as I also made[3] more raspberry jam[own raspberries from freezer], twink's hobnobs[with chopped dried apricots and cinnamon - rather yum] and 2 loaves: seedy apricot and seedy walnut.
[4]..................big pause............Having now read back to that catalyst post, Reverbe, now apologise for the mismatch of pleasure felt for you, with the actual circs and detail you added. I'm sorry you had to clarify things in this way, necessary as I now appreciate it was. Yes, indeed you were right to obey instinct.
[5]Finally picking those first 6 strawberries.
As I clearly don't count to 5 except in fluent Zog, I'll add these:
[6]Yes, s-m, glorying in the mighty rain, thunder, lightning and soggy bus-ride home after voluntary day yesterday fording brand new little rivers and alighting in ankle deep water - to walk from [STRIKE]bus-stop[/STRIKE]landing stage:D. Love it. Came quickly back out with camera to take pix. [6 Zog]TW was in for a meeting: I like him, which I did not feel through his years of captivity, as I did for J McC. Reading his book, after putting it off for years, has utterly altered whatever that was. I bully him into more books, but this is never a problem and we talk-same in this happy area, also mordaunt humour. I'll be tucking away any Alison Uttley's that come in for his dgd's.[6 Zogette]Telling my delight re: having found, at long last, a copy of Irina Ratushinskaya's poems - she used her fingernails in the meagre and irregular soap ration prisoners received, to 'write' her work - and learnt more as he knows/knew her
[7]Realising I can i-player Stephen Fry hosting isihac; it's back, jolly Hoorahs!... and Humph is happy.
[8]..........and, after lamenting departure of Garrison Keillor from BBC7, surely I heard him doing a Honda ad.[rather amusing] on Classic FM twice this morning?
[9] Taking samples from today's kitchen labours to someone special, down the road, whose Life needs rather a lot of Nice....but she's had to make do with my cuisine:D.
[10] More Skype with A and some lightening of the heart, despite concerns re: present situ.[:j<<<just consider the little leaping fella excessive but on the right lines]
Thankyou karriebee for your kind words - please make free!:T
My late blvd R used often to speak of things I/we did, being for his Memory Bank and as his birthday was last Wednesday[as was Phil the Greek's aka husband of Brenda]the mixed demons and familiars have been very present. It was probably thus that the phrase dropped through digits onto my keys.
Will I post this before the witching hour? Well, no:o...but I just scored a double clapping my hands on two of those wretched little moths that I was always raised to consider The Enemy, the clothes munchers.
Think I'll have another cup of Lapsang.
Bonne nuit to all, with a sudden thought of whitebait fritters, kiwiblue......mmmMMMMM!CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
