Five OS Pleasures in your day today

Welcome back Olliebeak - glad you had a good break ! Welcome to princess_siobhan and best of luck to ampersand with your troubles, hope counting the pleasures/blessings helps a bit.
Today's five :
1) a lie in, a blessed lovely long lie in, uninterrupted by having to get up for work or some misguided so and so ringing my bell because despite the notice to the contrary on the window next to the door they think I am on duty
2) good old fashioned OS honesty of a person unknown who handed in my debit card at the local co op where I had dropped it yesterday afternoon in a haze of post-weekend-job-shift tiredness and confusion. THANK YOU whoever you are and wherever you are, I am so grateful to you !
3) lovely hot buttered crumpets and a huge mug of tea brekker to recover from all the debit card loss-and-recovery stress !
4) pausing again to gawp in pleasurable awe at my newly cleaned up yard garden before actually stirring me lazy stumps enough to do some plant maintenance and seed planting.
5) and a lovely lazy afternoon ahead of me watching old films on t'telly followed by a proper oldstyle Sunday afternoon type tea with cold meats and salads and tinned fruit and cream !" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -
Good afternoon everyone. I've been very busy with the family over the last few days so will post a mixture for the weekend & today.
1. The lovely weather yesterday & today.
2. I'm looking forward to the rain that's coming later to give the garden a good drink.
3. Making a big batch of Twinks hobnobs - I've sampled *a few*and can confirm that they taste delicious.
4. Went into Manchester with DS3 & DH on Saturday and enjoyed sitting with an ice cream in Piccadilly Gardens.
5. My Dad is driving again & walking a lot without any symptoms :T
Blessings & hugs to everyone xxx0 -
I've been lurking round here a while and enjoyed reading the posts. Here's my 1st five:
1) Finally doing all the hand washing that has been sat in the wash basket for way too long and hanging it out in the sun
2) Sorting out the "dump" drawer in the kitchen and finding a receipe I've been looking for a long time. Also surprised how when it is sorted out there wasn't that much in it
3) Spending the day in the garden, working hard - digging, moving paving stones, generally tidying it up. It looks so much better but I didn't realise how sunny it was and have sore shoulders now - too much sun -ouch
4) Watching Oscar, our cat, who is just starting to venture outside, chasing insects and hiding in the bushes. He's so cute!
5) Having a takeaway and watching Britains Got Talent with DH who had been at work all day.

1. Managing to miss the forecast thunderstorms and have lunch in the garden again - two days on the run.
2. Planting out my last two tomato plants - I've been doing it in dribs and drabs as some were sown later than others, so praying we don't have a late frost.
3. OH finding some strawberries in the freezer and making a strawberry tart while I was catching up with the week-end newspapers..
4. Feeling glad to be retired and knowing I don't have to get up early tomorrow to go to work.
5. Will be watching Spring Watch tonight and seeing how Bill Oddie's replacement fares. Never did find out why he left the programme. Would I be right thinking it's the BBC being ageist again?.

Hi all!
Apologies, my friends, for my long-ish absence from the board, I am not being online a lot these days because my work is so reduced (4 hours per week) that I hardly need to switch on the computer and when I do I get on with the job and then go off to do things "in real time".
I could not read everything in details but went quickly through posts since my last appearance and hope that everybody is well, it looks like we have a few new faces (WELCOME!) and that a few regulars who have been away have made an appearance again (a bit like me).
I won't be here again for a few more days because I am going to Italy to visit my mum and celebrate her birthday, so I shall start posting regularly on my return, after 4th June.
Meanwhile, in no particular order, a few pleasures from my last few days:
1 - Veggies doing really well, especially the little courgette plants which are popping up from seed, one or two new ones every day!
2 - Free Foodies festival tickets for me and DH - I would have really resented PAYING for it as it was a bit small and mean, no freebies and very few tasters, but given that it was free it was ok, really!
3 - THE WEATHER, as always, the sunshine is a blessing to me!
4 - Time together with DH, we laugh a lot and he is a real darling.
5 - Dinners out in the garden with family and friends.
6 - Freebies every Thursday in Selfridges, courtesy of Grazia magazine, cosmetics that I would never otherwise buy!
7 - Free hypnosis sessions that I have been referred to by the herbalist I go to.
8 - Free tomato and courgette plants from my friends.
9 - Very nice jeans from M&S! Been looking forever for high waist, straight leg elasticated denim, seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth but good old Marks had them and they were the economy ones at £12 each. Bought three pairs and paid £11 because I had two £10 vouchers from my internet survey rewards and a £5 voucher from Oxfam. RESULT! And to think that I nearly paid £65 in Hobbs for denims (very very nice ones, mind you, but so much dearer!).
10 - So much asparagus, so little time!
Love to all, God bless and see you all back on my return!

Edited to say: 11 - Getting a bit of postnatal doula and Italian teaching work which makes up for the lost earnings in my main job. Very grateful! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
princess_siobhan & rainbow welcome to the power of positive thinking thread and welcome back ampersand, caterina & ollie beak I missed you all. Hope all goes well with your Italy trip caterina.
Yesterday's pleasures:-
1. Had a crowd for lunch, my friend from 120 miles away with her DH two grown up sons, her dad and step mum.
2. The lettuce plants she brought me.
3. The cabbage and brussel sprout plants her dad brought me and also a big bundle of rhubarb.
4. My half price leg of lamb went down a treat.
5. My friends dad went 'rooting' in one of my potato sacks and unearthed the first few of my potatoes, they are small yet but it was a proud moment, I felt like I'd had a baby.
Today's pleasures:-
1. Planting out all the goodies I was given yesterday. My veg patch is beginning to look 'real'.
2. Enough lamb left over from yesterday to make rissoles for today and
3. Sheherd's pie for tomorrow.
4. DH digging out a narrow border where I will plant mesembryanthamums sp? which were also a gift from friend yesterday.
5. A lovely quiet day with DH just pottering, if this is what retirement is going to be like (not long now) I'm all for it.

Hi Everyone
Primrose - I think Bill Oddie chose not to do another Springwatch as he'd recently booked himself into a clinic for his recurring depression, poor chap, hope he's soon on the mend.
Well here are my blessings.
1. Spent another lovely day in the garden until the rain came at teatime. DS has had his paddling pool out 2 days on the trot.
2. Had lots of lovely DS cuddles today
3. Sat in the sunshine and did 3 embroidered patches for my cards.
4. Gave some courgette plants away to a Freecycler and he gave me some contact details for local allotments - we're on 2 waiting lists and they are HUGE!!!
5, Went to local garden centre and treated myself to 2 geraniums and two blue pots which were BOGOF, they are very jolly.
6. bought some new bedding from Mr T. - ours is shamefuland it was bargainous and we got double points - yay!!!
7. got the rest of my washing dry on the line.
Going on a bus ride to Grandmas house tomorrow as my knee isn't up to driving - should be good fun.

Hi everyone
1. OH new knitted jersey is coming on a treat. Now on the last sleeve and hope to finish it by the time he returns home from work.
2. The roofers have finished the new roof. What was supposed to be a two day job has stretched over several weeks due to the inclement weather. But now they have finally gone, the peace and quiet is great.
3. Found a great pattern for the next knitted jersey for DGD. Try to do what I can to help them out, without being too intrusive, so hand knitted jerseys is a good way to help.
4. Roast chicken dinner last night, OH's favourite, so lots of compliments.
5. Not raining today, but still cold, so I can stay inside and concentrate on knitting.
Blessings be

Ours for this weekend are
1) An afternoon at the allotment yesterday and a long chat with one of the long-standing allotmenteers
2) Long walk with DH yesterday evening, just feeling the peace and quiet
3) Freecycling an oak tree that the previous owner had left here. I was surprised by the number of replies
4) An afternoon in the garden. Just managed to get the lawn done before the rain and DH has reconciled himself to the apple stump, which is still growing!
5) Finally taking the time to finish off a crochet knee blanket that we don't need but someone else will appreciate.0
