Just had a last minute money saver today!!!
We have been looking for a new oven for our new kitchen for ages..in true OS style everything has had to be sought based on quality and price. Got a SMEG extraction hood for £75 but the oven was the best.
Bought a Fisher and Paykel oven new on Ebay for £305 inc delivery of £30. Had laready checked other sites and the same oven normally retails between £595-£700!!!!!! Really pleased.0 -
Hi all
Glad u all had blessed weekends.
My 5 for the weekend are;
1) Realising that I can be a mum & still dress up, go out with the girlies & let my hair down now & again - It did me the world of good.
2) The little bottles of spirit in the handbag trick never fails
3) Soakin my poor feet in a bowl of water & puttin on my old comfy slippers after my nite out
4) Hubby letting me have a lie in & me waking up with no hangover
5) Taking advantage of the 3 for 2 offer on chinese food in M&S - Ok not very o/sbut In my defence I did this instead of buying a takeaway so worked out cheaper!

Ollie I know just what you mean re Ray - I did laugh at the comment from the voice-over - 'hasn't anyone told him that ice is slippery?' He's amazing isn't he?
Sunday blessings
1. Watching Dancing on Ice followed by Wild at Heart
2. Phone calls from DM, DS, even ex-OH, how quickly word gets around. I was really pleased though as they all cheered me up no end when I was feeling blue. Ex OH and I do laugh a lot on the phone, we just can't live together. We're very fortunate, it works for us (and he still listens when I tell him what to do like decluttering his flat, getting a sensible television and not keeping the 14" screen he had, and stocking up for the recession!) Oh Lord, I sound like a power freak
3. Just me at home today so no-one to complain that I had a slice of toast for breakfast, porridge for lunch and two lonely fish fingers with floppy brocolli for dinner. Better than throwing them away...Sunday dinner will be on Tuesday this week when the house is full again
4. Another mild day so I had the windows open for a while this morning, and no heating til 8pm just for an hour when it got a wee bit chilly.
5. Decided to look into having my small garden hard landscaped, it's so very good of the neighbours to do the lawn for me but I need remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible. There's freecycle to ask for bits and I can offer lots of garden tools I won't need in return, and someone suggested the probation office might come up with some ideas for labour. It's a thought and worth asking everybody for suggestions. What a blessing these things are around when we need them these days0 -
So many posts since yesterday - it feels like a party! Olliebeak, thanks for the recycling reminder - I nearly forgot to put ours out for tomorrow.
1. Spent the morning sitting in the car waiting for DS1 to finish a sports session, but I'd remembered a thermos mug of real coffee and some honey sandwiches (in lieu of breakfast) and I had a book with me (which was actually for my work but was fascinating) so, all in all, the waiting was very pleasant.
2. Bought a wooden washing up brush (the sort with exchangeable heads) on special offer which was vastly cheaper than the others I'd seen. I'd been wanting to try these for ages.
3. Had yesterdays leftover speckly mash turned into fishcakes with a tin of mackerel together with baked beans for supper. Quick and easy and very good.
4. DS2 tried out the shampoo bar freebie tonight and asked if we can get this in future. I'm pleased about that since I am trying to get our plastic consumption down to an absolute minimum and this would involve no plastic bottles at all and seems to be free of unnecessary additives. I need to see how long it lasts and whether it's more economical than liquid shampoo. Fingers crossed.
5. Decided to try knitting some felted slippers next with some wool that I handspun years ago. It will take some experimenting to see how much it shrinks in the wash but should felt up very well. I've found a possible pattern for some online.
Sleep well.

I so enjoy reading this thread. Thanks to you all for sharing your daily joys.
I have been feeling a bit sad today so it is good to think of the positives of the day before going to bed.
1. Seeing a lovely wooden table that a student made - a young lad who can be quite a handful. Seeing his pride was moving.
2. Coming home from work to my lovely doggies and being greeted as though it was the best thing that had ever happened to them!
3. Listening to same doggies snore contentedly in the evening.
4. Listening to Radio 3 driving to work - very soothing
5. One more sleep 'til DH gets home
Off to bed now with my book and hottie.
Sleep tight everyone
