Windows 10 Poll

Last time I used Linux (Mint ... 14 or 15 I think) it still wouldn't work nice with my Nvidia GT540M graphics card, defaulting instead to the onboard Intel HD3000 graphics. (I gave up trying to get it to work).
Until (or unless) that problem is resolved then it's not really an option for me as 3D games and other GPU-intensive programs struggle.
I do still have it installed as dual boot though - handy for file recovery if Windows crashes for any reason and I've been lax with my backups.
Sounds a silly question, but did you use Bumblebee ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Right, why don't you say the desktop PC market which is what you mean
- I was entirely on-topic, what else in a thread titled Win10, would I be referring to ?
- linux 1.6% according to the above, agreed to by all other commentators
- you could start your own threads, then folks don't need to constantly read about a gerrymandered off-topic subject
- nuff said then, all readers and lurkers here can decide for themselves who is hijacking windows threads for linux dribbleDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. As I've never heard of it (wrt Linux) then I guess the answer is No.0 -
I have never upgradedI upgraded using virtural box. Didn't like it so I'll stick with Windows 7 for a very long time to comeHappiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

Where does it say desktop in the Poll ?
Never hear of Windows embedded (IOT), server or Windows HPC ?
You are the one trying to introduce statistical bias (c.f. gerrymandering) into the question.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

I have upgraded to Windows 10 but reverted to previous editionWell it's run terribly on my computer and I'm restoring windows 7 right now.
It's no slouch of a machine, i7 quad core, 16gb of ram, but the startup and shutdown times are horrendous and the lag waiting for a window/program to open is awful.
I can't do a clean install as I'll lose a lot of valuable software like MS office that I no longer have the disc and product keys for. So only option is too roll back and hope I havent mucked things up too badly.
I always, always say never upgrade an OS if everything is working alright, so why I stupidly upgraded this I don't know!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

That's odd. I installed 10 Pro on a seven year old Dell desktop with 4gb of ram. It flies. Even Itunes starts almost instantly.
BTW There a tools that can recover lost Office product keys.0 -

It honestly was really ridiculously slow. Twice as long to start up, everything jerky and twitchy.
Difference is you clean installed? I did the free upgrade and that obviously did not work well at all. I'm sure a clean install of 10 would be better.
Anyway rolling back to 7 was even worse! Computer won't start without blue screen. Can't even start in safe mode. I've had to remove harddrive and use a USB adapter to save my files, then looks like i'll be reinstalling windows 7 from scratchMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
