An alternative OS to MS has been preached by disciples and evangelised by phanbhoys decade after decade, but all the MS alternatives lumped together only amount to less than 5% of world market - there's a reason for that.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. Correction, Linux is the most used and installed OS in the World, there are many more computing appliances than the desktop you know. Even Microsoft are making their own Distro:

First hand experienceNo problems.
First hand experience..:p
Bug solved, its a Win 10 readiness detection bug. If you run into this and you are sure NX available on the CPU and is on in the bios then you need to make sure DEP is always on:
Run
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn
reboot then run the installation again.
Hope it helps someone.
Lazy programming by Microsoft, if they used RDMSR this wouldn't be a problem.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
How about this ....
I'm waiting a while for all the problems to be ironed out and will probably do it before the end of the 'free upgrade' period.
In the meantime, the talk on the street is that it ain't an 'upgrade' - just a changeWhat problems ?
Runs great. It's not there, because there are no problems. You shouldn't listen to things you hear on the street, they are rarely correct...
OK, maybe I will re-phrase
There have certainly been several instances of folks posting on here as well as other forums about their perceived problems. (were they mainly driver related issues?)
I'm don't really want to be one of these so, I'm sticking with W7 - ain't broke = don't fix
Maybe I'll carry out the change at a later date.

Linux as a workload guest on datacenter machines is not the operating system, 99.9% of MS users have no need for to cross-manage a differing platform networking infrastructure - so obfuscation I assume was the grasping reason for the URL you posted. In the same way that linux users have boot MS and linux setups, they are different strokes for differing purposes, if linux would do everything a consumer wanted they would not need an MS operating system at all.
Phanbhoy says - Linux is the most used and installed OS in the World ................... yeh right, maybe in 20 years when phones and Android take the whole consumer domestic market and puters as we understand them disappear completely.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I have upgraded to Windows 10 but reverted to previous editionI upgraded to Windows 10 in the hope they'd improve the touch side of it but it's a lot of step backwards from Windows 8, many of the useful optimisations are gone completely and you largely have to use a desktop interface. I may upgrade a Windows 8 laptop instead but at the moment I'm seeing little reason to other than to gain more familiarity with it.

What's up, those expensive MCSE's that a 7 year old can do looking a waste of money ?
PS I think you will find it's Linux doing the serving and Windows being the guest in most data centres, MS server licences are very expensive you know. Stick to boilers as it seems the thing you most comment on and leave more complex devices to those who know what they are talking about.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
