Neighbours have placed thin sheets of metal on to our fence.. Help plz

Hi,

Our neighbours have today attached or leant thin metal sheets against our 6ft fence. We didn't think that they could do this without our permission. It look so unsightly. Does anyone know what we can do please.

Obviously, they can do it but they shouldn't have if it's your fence.

You could ask them to take down.

http://www.gardenlaw.co.uk/ is a good site for advice on this kind of topic.

    Talk to them?

Is the fence definitely yours, is it on the boundary or inside it on your land?

Who to contact ? ..... the neighbours.

Or get a solicitor to write to them, which is going to cost you ,and is a little unfriendly if you haven't discussed it with them first.

Look at it from a different perspective:A:A:A

They may be planning work that may mark or damage "your" fence, (ok, long shot)

It may be temporary and for your benefit, (even longer shot)

Contact them again and explain that they simply are not allowed to so much as touch your fence, (in law), and in doing so may ruin neighbourly relations.

OK, so tongue in cheek there but you have to try to be reasonable, even weith unreasonable people, otherwise you can be labled under the same tag as them.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Can you not push the metal sheets through the gaps in the fence away from the fence during the night when they are not watching the fence and next morning say it must have been windy during the night?

If they are not approachable and unreasonable your best bet is probably just to leave it. Even if you do get them to detach it from your fence, are they the kind of people that would just put up some poles on their side and attach the sheet to the poles they have put up. Nothing you could do about that and it might look even worse.

How can you tell they have put things up against the fence on their side. Is the fence see through or have lots of gaps in it?

What are they for? Are they decorative? Can you see them from your side?
