And I've said a few posts above yours that I have successfully placed an order with a donated code and have been given a transfer date. So having written confirmation from Sky of the order with £100 credit are you saying that Sky are now going to go cancel it? I think not.

Sky have been known to penalise people who 'broke the rules'.

eg Some have successfully cancelled a service then joined at the same address in a partner's name. Others have been caught out, at a later date, and ,as in contract, had to pay the full price.

Well if you point me to the T&Cs where it states that the address the code was registered with has to be the one where the contract was taken out I will may start to worry. I checked the T&Cs when I was signing up to Sky as far as I could and didn't see anything about it. They presented me with an offer online and I accepted it.
  • Hi all! Last week I missed the chance to get this too, but if anyone out there isn't able to use his/her code and kindly wants to help others by donating the code, then please please please help me!

BTW - I think the code applies specifically for the type of package that MSE has stated. Thanks Searcher2 for confirming that the code is transferable.
  • Hi all,
Also missed out on code, which is a big blow as I'm in the last weeks of contract with talktalk and looking to switch.
If anyone is not going to use the code, I'd very much appreciate you passing it! Cheers!
  • I appreciate it is unlikely that anyone has a code they've decided they no longer want but ...

I need to leave Talk Talk ... they've announced a second price hike in just a couple of months and it now is getting beyond my budget.

If anyone could help I'd be genuinely grateful ... if not with a code then with any advice/opinions. I am looking for a basic broadband package, dont need/want/cant afford a tv package but would need an anytime phone package.

    Thanks in advance all
  • they want £20 line transfer which AI have never heard of before , I am with Talk Talk which is managed by BT so cant see why they say they need to charge.
  • I've just placed the order for my parents, all seems to be going smoothly. Will reserve judgement until it's all set up but the code worked. Added the Sky Talk Anytime package.

They kept the number and there was no transfer fee directly from BT. In some cases I think talk talk can be LLU which is probably where the charge comes in.
  • Im trying to speak to them about this line set up charge, they say I need an outreach engineer to make a new line , there is nothing wrong with the line i have. Given the absolute disastrous attempt by customer service and the hours spent trying to get a clear answer I am not going ahead and ask this to be investigated by MMT as its a great big rip off in my eyes , irrespective of how much it costs , they cant get away with making up these charges .

If your current supplier is LLU they have their own equipment at the exchange. Sky is also generally LLU. I don't know the ins and outs of it but the chances are that because of this an engineer is required to do some minor work somewhere to switch you over. Hence the cost, compared to, for instance ,switching between two providers who are renting BTs own equipment at the exchange.

I think it's fairly complicated, advisers probably don't know much more than that the charge is because an engineer is required somewhere, and I wouldn't really expect them to. I don't think the charges are made up though, and given the discount you are getting £20 to get connected is hardly a rip-off.
  • I have a code for anyone that can place there order today as the offer ends at 11.59 pm today. PM me
