I'm trying to do the switch but the site is down and I am already on EON so I can't get my MPAN and it won't let me finish the application without it - anyone got any ideas?
Sorry for the late reply unsungoven. Hope you were able to sort something out before the offer closed last night. Just thought I'd let you know, you can find your MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) on your bills or, if registered online, on our website. Alternatively, if you phone the number on the bills, we can tell you in seconds of looking at your account. Might come in handy in the future.

Got an unexpected e-mail from e-ON, on the e-mail address I use for Scottish Power, which I do have an account with.
I did a comparison using the Energy Club for the MSE Collective Switch, but definitely did not switch, and as far as I know, did not allow marketing info.
It looks like they are getting ready to switch me.

Dear *** ***** *****
Thanks for letting us know you'd like us to send you information by email.
What does this mean for me?
You'll receive contact from us by email instead of through the post. We're introducing our emails gradually, so you'll still get a few things through the post until we're all up and running.
What kind of things will you send me?
We'll only send you important information that you need to know about your account, including:
•Changes to Direct Debit payments, if you've chosen to pay this way.
•Asking for meter readings
•Reminding you about any appointments you have with us.
•Reminding you about paying for the energy you've used, if you haven't already told us when
you're going to pay.
•Anything else we think you'll need to know about your service from us.
Don't worry, we won't send you information to sell you anything, unless you've already told us we can.Oh well, just a mistake from e-ON.
Called e-ON on 0333 202 4610, around 9am, and got through straightaway. Very on the ball, he told me they know 400,000 e-mails went out yesterday, incorrectly, and they are dealing with it.

I would like to think that Deidre had an office birthday party, and somebody was drunk, and used the wrong mailing list.
Sorry about this Pincher. I posted on a separate thread earlier this morning. It's at the following link (post 7).

Don't worry, we're not about to take your account. Will be back as soon as I know more.

Persistence pays - I got onto the website just in time and have done the application with 5 minutes to go woohoo!!! ps not sulking anymore :-DRealised at 10.51 that the deadline had been extended and managed to complete everything by 10.58. Supposedly going to save me £533 over a year.poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »I sent my niece a reminder yesterday morning about it being the last day, and forwarded her the email I received yesterday morning warning the offer closed at 10pm on Thursday.
I had an email back last night telling me she got her application in at 9.59pm! Talk about cutting it close.
Talk about cutting things fine and going down to the wire. Like your style.
Just to let you know, the Cheap Energy Club (CEC) will send an email and this will be followed by one from us confirming what will happen. If changing supplier, this will be followed by a Welcome Pack with the tariff and account details. The pack will arrive about 6-7 days after the switch starts. Also for those changing supplier, the switch can be followed by registering with our website and using the 'Track My Switch' tool.
For existing customers, I'd expect switches to hit our systems within 3-5 working days of the email from the CEC being received. It can, though, take up to 14 working days. For those with online accounts, the current tariff can be seen on the right hand side of the first page when logged in.
Hope this is of interest all.

Hi Pincher and sorry I've been a long time coming back to you. Been trying to see what's happened here.
Also really sorry we've made this mistake and sent emails we shouldn't have. There's information on our website that mrpsmith links to on the thread below (post 10).

Just to assure you, no sensitive personal data has been shared or leaked. We'll be letting the Information Commissioner know what's happened too.
Hope this and the information on the website helps. I'll let you know if there's any other developments as and when I'm told about them. Thanks for your patience.

Received my email to activate my account with EON and logged in and the address was wrong. They said MSE sent the wrong address on the application even though the address was correct when I submitted it. For a moment there I almost ended up taking over someone else's supply!
However all being sorted out by the great EON customer service team. Anyone else had this problem?0 -
Almost switched to Eon for electricity only, but when I double checked the massive savings promised (£300), they had overestimated what I paid to Scottish power by just short of £350. Numbers based on actual usage p/a and more inconsistent numbers based on what I actually pay. Their numbers seem based on the most expensive tariffs from others. Check carefully as it is a year contract.0

The massive savings are based on Ofgem's insistence that suppliers and comparison sites use what is known as the 'inflated savings methodology'. The underlying assumption is that if a consumer has a month left on a fixed tariff - AND DOES NOTHING - then for the coming 12 months, the cost will be 1month on the present tariff followed by 11 months on the supplier's standard variable tariff. Inflated costs lead to inflated savings.
In fairness to MSE. CEC, the site now shows inflated savings and actual savings. The layout though is, imho, very confusing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Glad it's being sorted scotty_591. We've support teams in place for this kind of thing. I suspect this is who you spoke to. Thanks for the kind comments. I'll pass these on.
