Hi I did my first shop of the month today, £21.18 at Liddddl. I got everything I wanted there so it was nice and quick although the shop was really busy. Good to see that more and more people are shopping there. Like another one here, I bought gammon so simmered it for an hour and then roasted. I made lentil and carrot soup and it was so delicious. We had potatoes ( I had sweet), broccoli and cabbage. While the gammon was roasting I put in a crustless quiche using up broccoli and some frozen green beans. I'll slice and freeze it. DH doesn't like it so it is an easy tea for me.
We have DSS and his fianc!e coming on Tuesday for nearly a week so there will be some more shopping done later in the week.
Good luck this month everyone. I haven't done the grocery challenge for years so I hope I do ok!

Before I did the food shop, I said to OH we would need to finish what we have in our freezers and by golly we did rather well, so much so that he managed to defrost two of them for cleaning (we have 5 freezers in the house LOL). So yesterday I did the monthly shop...my budget was £295, excluding cleaning materials. I budget £20 for those. I went to Lidddl, Aldddi, T***o, and was slightly over budget by £2.39. Original budget was £295, down from £330 last month. As I shop for the month, apart from bread, there should be no reason to shop again. We have lots of frozen fruit from last month to use so won't be buying fresh fruit. Let's hope I don't go near the shops again!

Ive been awful over the weekend as been at the hospital with DD so we've had a few takeaway meals.
Looking for some easy kid friendly recipes for this week. I did tuna pasta bake yesterday.
    Ive got in the fridge;
    Butter,
    Cheese,
    Broccoli,
    Spinach,
    Milk,
    A red pepper,
    Some heritage potatoes (home grown)
Not much in the freezer bar a pack of mince 250g
And some frozen veg and frozen salmon
    A squash
    Some arborio rice
    Spaghetti
    Passata
I'll probably make squash risotto today for dinner.

Feeling pleased with myself as have had 4 NSDs in a row (including today - won't be going out so definitely no shopping). Will need to do some shopping tomorrow.

£22 exactly spent in lidl. That leaves me £3 for milk and bread top up at the end of the week.
I always get such a lot when I shop in Lidl, I don't think I'll need to go over my £25 this week :)

  • Updating my shops since 1st..... Total of £66.65p. This includes a birthday gift (Only £5 so coming out of this budget). Also includes all my halloween sweets and a load of veggie stuff as it was running low for my daughter.

I will have to try to get a freezer shop done this week, but will try and make do for the next few days. My meals are planned till Thursday and I think I have everything in I need. Will be getting milk at some point today, and at SW tonight so might buy some new SW bars.

    Off to update sig!

I'm going to have a nosey around Lidl tomorrow, compare it to my Aldi shop last week, Aldi is a bit of a drive, Lidl is not far from my sons college.

I'm a bit late to the party but I would like to join please if possible.
£200 for the month (£50 per week for two adults)

£64.62 spent at Ocado, hoping that'll last 2 weeks though! I've got a freezer full that needs clearing out.

Doing a beef & ale stew tonight with a joint of roasting beef that I'll chop up. On offer at the moment at Ocado & Aldi.

Also I don't know if anyone else does this but I keep a bag in my freezer that I chuck all the odd bits and bobs of vegetables (onion peels, carrot tops, leek ends) and any chicken bones (I do a chicken roast every Friday night and save all the bones) once that bag is full I cover it with water and stick it on the stove for a few hours. Makes for a very frugal chicken soup! Freezes nicely too so it's good for a light lunch.
