Slightly annoyed tonight. I popped into the local co0p for some bananas and ended up spending £9.94!

It was almost all on YS bargains, stuff that I will definitely use, but after a big shop earlier this week, I really should have refrained!

Oh well, I got YS smoked salmon, now in freezer, which will save money later in the month, and YS mushrooms, mozarella and a big bottle of olive oil(which will last me well into next year. i also got a prawn sarnie for 49p, which made a very easy dinner with a lovely bowl of soup.

I need to STOP SHOPPING this month!!!!! I could do with saving money, and I need to empty my freezer. It is small, but packed, and I slightly cracked one of the trays trying to get it closed tonight.

Freezer bargains are great, but I need to actually use them!!!!!

1/10/15 - bought a few treat items and a loaf at local newsagent who never seems to give out receipts. It was just less than £5, can't remember exact amount.

    2/10/15 - Mr S delivery £44.83 :
I'd already done my Mr S order before I came into the challenge. When it was delivered I emptied all the carrier bags so I could see what I'd actually bought and to be honest, most of it was just random items and I couldn't see where I was going to make a meal out of any of it.
My delivery pass with Mr S runs out in the next few weeks . I'm not going to renew and instead will start go out to the shops to do my grocery shop.
So thinking about going out to shop, we have a decent butcher in the next village and there's a greengrocer there too that I've never tried, so will have a look next week.
There's a Mr S Local about 3 miles from me but I already avoid it as it's exorbitant. The next closest supermarket is Waitrose which I'll mostly be avoiding for the same reason.:rotfl:
Aldi is about 10 miles away, Lidl a bit further.

Dinner tonight will be Sunday roast, there will be two of us eating so I'll make extra mash and freeze the leftovers. The piece of beef I've got is small, although it should feed us both tonight with some leftover.
Could also make extra roasties but I'm not sure how well they freeze?
I'm going to find some time today to try to do storecupboard, fridge and freezer stock take, and then come up with a meal plan for the next 3 or 4 days, although as I said, most of what I have in seems to be just random.
I've got 3 huge garlic bulbs that I bought last week, no idea why I bought them (the box they were in was pretty !) and no idea how I'll use them up.

On a postive note, today and tomorrow should both be NSDs.

Could I join please, I know a little late but have been following and reading you all for years :hello:. We have recently moved house with a much bigger mortgage so need to tighten our belts a couple of notches, to make inroads into it.
I have taken cash out and put into 4 x envelopes of £50 per week, so £200 for the month for me, DH, DS16 and our chubby Lab, to include all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff and pet food Fingers crossed x
  • Hi, can you put me down for £400 this month, we havent been doing too badly but redundacy may be imminent so it would be good to get this under control. Im thinking of putting the money in envelopes to give to hubby as he does most of the shopping but Im not sure he would play! Will talk to him later

  • Mother Shipton, in the past when I've used envelopes I found it helpful to do a weeks meal plan around the main things I had in,and making a list of what was needed and putting it in the envelope with the money, I also put the receipts into each envelope too, hope this is of help.

Eeek I've spent almost all of my budget. I meal planned for the month so I've bought everything we need including milk & bread which I freeze anyway. All I will need is fruit & yoghurts.
