Good morning all
I see the carrier bag charge is being talked about its been policy in wales for ages.
Don't forget your carrier bag when you go to the drive through restaurant for burger or chicken as they charge for the paper bags
How the hell they expect to serve your order without a bag is beyond me what a con :mad:0 -
:(Oh dear. Neurotypical people - they're quite often useless! They are. I've just had to take someone to a regular appointment. I had to leave the building and go back to my car when a particular song came on:(. But that was alright, as at least the person I took could fend for themselves. (At least I ensured that I did not get triggered to post-traumatic stress and have three weeks of heart racing again:).) They came out afterwards and showed me the next appointment date - the 5th. "But," they added, "she said the 6th". :(Just so typical of normal people I find. Say one thing, do another. Say one thing, write down something else. So now we may be waiting in on - they'll visit next time - the 5th, or the 6th. Pick a day that week and they might turn up. Or they might not:(.
The other person we saw last time set the next date. I noticed that it was a Saturday:(. So I went back and had to get it corrected. They're just hopeless - almost seemingly complete inability to get anything right or correct. I find this of almost everyone. They do jobs that are merely 'adequate'. Or, in actual fact, are inadequate because they are not correct. They are extremely inconsistent people - this weird group of the near-entire rest of society - and make tiny errors all the time. But, like in this case, the difference between 5th and 6th makes a great deal of difference indeed - for it affects the date that we are to be seen on, the absolute vital crux of the thing! I bet she hasn't remembered to tell her colleague that we've now visited and sorted things out. I can see her colleague visiting us in a couple of day's time for a now unnecessary visit, just basically wasting everyone's time and being the useless inefficiency that sorry you normal people usually are. (Yet again this person who has Asperger's will be proved right when the visit happens.)
I had a similar thing quite some years ago, and that one happened to be with one of those Indian call centres:( (this is not a race thing as the person we visited today, who was equally useless in that regard, as far as I know was white British). I rang them telling them my claim had now been resolved (actually no thanks to them - I did not say that bit!). I knew the person had not understood me:(. As predicted, this was confirmed when they rang me about two hours later asking what I wanted to do with the claim:(:(. Just, so useless!! People just don't understand anything simple and clear.
Just checked - the 5th is the Thursday, but the appointment is usually a Friday, so I bet they mean the 6th like I'm told they said. But they did not write that (and :rotfl:that's not the written contemporaneous note of evidence we have :rotfl::rotfl:lol! - but do they think about these things? It's true though, that's what they've left us with!). Imagine it though - imagine being in a lawyer's office (I acknowledge that they are not) and writing something incorrect down - could be very serious if it was some real important document. And then all the expense, possibly, to get that put right. Always me - having to do the job for them, yet again(:rotfl:)!0 -

The chips have to be put in a bag at no charge and the burger is given to you in a box hence the bag is not essentialApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

It is if you don't want grease all over the steering wheel of the car. And your clothes try going without a bag for kfc you will soon take one next time :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
OR you could go back to buying everything at mom & pop stores - family run concerns. They can give you carriers at no charge!
Wouldn't it be nice if corner stores still existed everywhere? Our nearest store is about 5-6 miles away. Although it would be really nice to have a small store nearby that sold bread/milk & fruit/veggies that I could walk to. We used to have little vans up to about 12 yrs ago that used to bring assorted groceries and fresh bread here. I have NO idea how some of the older residents in the village who can't drive cope.
I suspect in a few more years, if I go on that long, I might find out! BUT I'm used to the internet, most of them aren't.0 -
Thank you for taking the comment in the way it was meant. Too often, and on here especially, the written word can be taken in the wrong context.
It often amazes me how resilient kids are. Just a shame us adults can't learn from them sometimes, with our prejudices and sometimes misplaced opinions that we can't help but have. We are all guilty of them at times.
Spot on again. I would add ignorance and embarrassment at the disability as well, as not knowing what to say.0 -

You invariably have to buy 'a bag for life' which costs more than 10p. The 10p bags give nothing to charity.
If they had kept the 5p bags at the same thickness as they were before the charge came in then I wouldn't have minded. However I do resent the fact that the 5p bags here are good for nothing thus you have to upgrade to more expensive ones & the charities get nowt. It's only the supermarket that wins.
Taking your own is easier, less spillage and better for the environment. Sometimes I forget, so I also have a stash of 'bags for life' as I won't buy those thinner 5p ones (the ones that the cost - expenses goes to charity) as they are NOT fit for purpose here.
6p bag for life in Asda. I've seen plenty of receipts !0 -

Grey and dampish here at the moment. Has the summer finally gone?
My cc this morning wasn't in any bags at all - the guy said that they haven't sorted the system out yet and that there will be an option to say No Bags when you order. He just shoved all the stuff in my coolags and crate in the back of the car - which is fine by me. I certainly don't want loads of bags with just one carrot etc in them !ELITE 5:2
