my carer called my dr and she called me, she said that she cant get me any mental health support, I used to have cpns but they they won't give me one.. the mental health team justifies this by saying that thre best thing with bpd and ptsd is to not help them because it doesnt make any difference.. their stance that all forms of help make me worse is unbudgeable, I can't overturn it,I tried for 4 years .. there is no help out there for me.. I' on my own :(
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

Faerie, have you considered contacting MIND and getting yourself an advocate? I have no idea why you are being told something that just isn't true and it's awful. There are loads of different treatments for PTSD out there and BPD is definitely treatable. I had 4 years of psychotherapy targeting both at once which really helped me, I then went on to have CBT for PTSD. MIND can give you someone to represent you and talk on your behalf, also they can be insistent when you understandably do not have energy. Please don't give up trying to get help, there are services out there that can help you. Gentle hugs my friend.

I have also been told that I cannot have more therapy because it is too much of a risk for me to continue. In my case though, I have severe psychotic illness and have already had 16 years of therapy. Because my illness is often unstable any further therapy that could make me anxious would very likely push me into psychosis which is dangerous so I actually agree with them. I have enough tools learnt from previous therapy to see me through anyway and to be fair, I don't think that there is much else that I can be taught as far as coping strategies go, I would feel like I was taking a place away from someone who needs it more and hadn't had previous treatment.

In your case that doesn't apply, there is no reason why you cannot benefit from further treatment (from what you have told us on the thread) and it IS out there, I can think of several PTSD treatments off the top of my head and therapists know that clients can begin to feel worse sometimes before they get better. They are trained to deal with this. Please take this to an outside agency like MIND, you really do need someone trained in mental health who can speak for you. Sane.org and Rethink can also be helpful.

Have you looked at NHS complaints at all? You can get advocacy support with that as well - depends on your area as to which advocacy organisation that is.

(Am I having a deja vu moment, or have I mentioned this before?)

I have been computering all afternoon trying to get a report done. I've now gone cross-eyed, still haven't finished it although I said I'd get it sent today so looks like I'm going to have to work on it over the weekend. Cross with myself because if I'd started it first thing until getting on with other jobs first it would have been gone by now.

I can now hear the local chippy and the remains of my bottle of wine calling to me.

ETA - melly, if you want to show willing (moral high ground and all that) it is possible to request mediation where you are in separate rooms. Not as effective, and it may feel like it's dragging things out for longer after everything that's happened, but it may go in your favour that you've tried?
