ww - try not to worry too much...... sometimes I bleed for a few days and other times I bleed for 6 weeks. Is it worth considering some multivitamins, especially with iron, whilst this is going on as the increased level of blood loss might be adding to your tiredness as it is not the norm for you?

    Moo - big hugs

Me and hubby are off to a cookery class this morning which is our ode to valentines - actually spending time together - I am articulalrly looking forward to learning how to make the gin and tonic sorbet and the bloody mary sorbet!!

Hi folks! Am home! Got home about 10pm UK last night, which was about 3.30am body clock /Sri Lanka time, so not much worse than an extremely late night! So I don't anticipate the jet lag being as bad as on the way out! Will spend a relaxed day today resting and catching up and dozing if necessary.
Due to the time on the plane not being 'overnight', I didn't need to sleep much, although I did doze off a few times. But being in a normal seat and not the lie-flat one, of course my mouth falls open and there's nowhere to hide! God knows what I looked like!

Anyway, the journey back was very good. At the airport at Colombo, we decided to do a Flashmob in the Departure Lounge, with one of the songs we'd learned, so we did! It went very well and was well-received! And we managed to do it all between tannoy announcements!

What a superb holiday though! Sri Lanka is a wonderful place, still has a great respect for British culture, is a very tolerant society, with the major religions cooperating and intermingling, and has a very decent welfare system for a developing country.
With one exception, the hotels were luxurious, the people very friendly.......we were constantly waving at the locals and saying hello and Ayobowan (hello in Singhalese), and the food delicious! I'm going to miss string hoppers and woodapple juice!

Anyway, because the hotel laundry charges were cheap, I'got all my laundry done before I left, apart from what I was wearing the day before yesterday and today, so hardly any to do! Didn't need to take as many clothes with me as I did!
I am going to indulge myself today in sampling the special teas I bought from the very plantation that grew them!

I haven't read the thread for a couple of days, so will catch up! Hope everyone is ok. :A

By the way, I really recommend the Indian film "Baahubali: The Beginning". I watched it on the plane coming back and it's fantastic! It's a fantasy film and the effects, scenery and acting are superlative. It's a Lord of the Rings type of film. There's Part two coming out in Jan next year. I can't wait, and I've just bought the first part from iTunes....I've never bought a film before, as I don't really watch a lot of films, but I really wanted this one!

  • Welcome home Pyxis! Glad you had a fantastic time! Get you with the flash mob at the airport! :D I love flash mobs, they're so happy and cheery!

Melly, it's Sunday, it's meant to be a day of rest! Now you've done your cleaning, try and have a quiet relaxing day, or as quiet and relaxing as you can have there.

    Oops tea! :p
  • Welcome back Pyx! I've never been in a flash mob, really must organise one sometime! They make me cry, for some reason. There's something about bringing music to the masses and the reaction of people that just sets me off. I think it's the contrast of the beauty of the music and the everyday mundane stuff with people looking really miserable before the music starts. Love this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLglIaE7QWE

They make me cry too JM! Especially if there's a proposal or something at the end of it! Most singing sets me off....church choir - check, children singing carols in the supermarket - check, male voice choirs - check, Musical Theatre (especially the beginning of the WWRY musical) - check. You get the idea! :p There's just something so stirring about it, but at the same time they're joyous and uplifting!

On these singing holidays, there's always at least one song that sets me off. It's not necessarily the words or the sentiment.......it's usually one particular chord or chord progression that we sing and it switches something in my brain and I just blub! However, the leader always warns this can happen, and just says to let it happen and do what you feel while the singing carries on.

On this holiday there was one song where at a certain part I lost it!

I wonder if there's been research into the effect of certain harmonics on causing this type of emotional reaction?

Another piece if music that does that to me is Adonai Ro'hi from the Chichester Psalms by Bernstein, and there's an Itaian song that does it as well. It's not the words, as I don't understand them, (the Italian one is in dialect), it's a particular phrase of notes! Just thinking about them starts me off!
