Oh charliewocka, so much of what you wrote feels like me, well except i almost cried at work instead of actually (that was yesterday) i can imagine looking it at from the outside our OHs just want us to be happy, so their approach is "fix it" and they seem to struggle when we can't explain what the issues are. thats how it seems to me anyway
Hi Tiggerjj - although different situations, I am in a very bad place at the moment and struggling.

Last night I thought was 'OK' - felt able to talk about general things and got an early night. Today I've woken up the same as yesterday and ended up in the shower (at work!) sobbing because I just don't like where I am or who I am right now. This isn't 'me' and I am so scared of scaring the OH away. When we got together I was the happy-go-lucky person I know I am inside. He is going away this weekend and I resent him so much for that. Not his fault, he is going to take part in a hobby he has, but it's me left at home feeling like this with the animals, the plumber, facing the mess of the house. He says I can talk to him but I can't really. I try to bring up things and he says things like 'well, you know what you've got to do to get out of it then'. It's innocent and not in a nasty way but I just don't think he understands. I'm half tempted to ask him to come to the GP later today with me and sit there while I talk and maybe it would open his eyes a bit to how serious this is.

I am somebody that compares myself a lot to others - in work and personally. His ex had mental health issues and I am scared he will think I am going the same way. It's completely different, I just need support and to talk. I feel that in a relationship you have to talk, whether it's good or bad but I don't want him to run away,

    Sigh, another day.....

tigger, what happens next is a discussion between you and the doctor about the best way forwards. You can have a conversation about the pros and cons of suggested treatments but you don't have to accept then if you don't want to. Would a bit of time off work help?

Pollyanna - writing things down is a good idea for me, something to work on, writing down even if it is messy and unordered what i feel, what has happened etc

Welcome tigger and charliew! (well, welcome BACK tigger, really.) tigger, would it be too much to ask which country? I'm just casting around in my mind trying to think what might be helpful culturally (in a country where people are very direct.)

The Netherlands is where i am, home of the most direct people i have ever met, it's alarming!!!

    Hiya!

    Couldn't get internet this morning!
Phew! Am exhausted again, so will keep this brief. (ish)!
Today we had a full-on sightseeing day.
Firstly we went to the Botanical Gardens and saw some incredible exotic trees. We sang a four-part song under the shade of one!
Our guide also has a lovely tenor voice and he sang us a Sri Lankan song too. A snake crossed our path, which was a huge thrill! Then very high up in some other trees was a huge colony of fruit bats roosting upsidedown! Saw some trees planted by members of our royal family, past and present, and one planted by the Apollo astronauts, which seemed a bit random!
Then, after a picnic lunch we went to a local girls' school and sang with the school choir! They sang a song in English and two,in Sri Lankan. Then we taught them two four part rounds and we all sang together! Magical! Music transcends nationalities, ages, sexes, religions.
Then after a welcome cup of Ceylon tea, we went to the famous Temple of the Tooth and I bought some flowers as an 'offering' to Buddha. Buddha isn't a god, he is a revered man, and the philosophies of moderation and tolerance are to be respected, which is why I felt it appropriate to show respect by giving some flowers. (It isn't a religion, it's a philosophical way of life). End of lecture! :D

Then we went next door and saw a show of traditional Sri Lankan singing, dance and drumming. Fantastic. One man was blowing on a conch shell. They also had fire-eaters and at the end, fire-walking!

Back at the hotel it is a constant round of weddings! Talk about lavish! Beautiful, beautiful saris, costumes and dresses, including incredible costumes for the men!

Tomorrow we are going to spend the morning singing, and then in the afternoon visit a gem factory and then have free time to look at the shops in Kandy. I'd like to get a sarong and some baggy cotton trousers. I hope I don't get too tempted by the gems!:rotfl:

    Hugs to everyone! xxxxx

Edit. Hugs to Charliewocka and tiggerjj.

I had a friend from the Netherlands for a while, I adore the accent. She was very direct though so I know what you mean, tigger. I always find writing things down helps clear my head, hence my mini-novels on here from time to time. I find writing things down really helpful for communicating with professionals, if I can;t get the words out I just hand them a piece of paper! I gave my GP a drawing once!

That sounds amazing, Pyxis! You have reminded me that I used to have a Buddha statue as a child. He always looked so happy, I used to pat his tummy for luck. Have a wonderful day tomorrow! Bring me home an elephant calf....:A

Pyxis, where are you? Sounds good....
I've been to Africa a few times (DRC, Zambia, Tamzania, Kenya, RSA) partly with work and partly due to my ex-OH living in DRC so we had a house there I went to. Love the continent and my next dream trip is 4x4 in Namibia and also driving to Vic Falls (in different trips).... Spent quite a while going on safari for weekends and love elephants, giraffes and hippos :)

No, not Afirca, Sri Lanka! Am now covered in bruises from being bounced around the back of an old jeep! :D

So peed off. Just lost 2000 steps as the stupid moves app decided my walk home was actually public transport. If you're doing the bounts thing on android, your options for linked apps are poor.
