Okay. If you pay by direct debit and the payment is due today then the ins co won't know until Wed that the payment is unpaid? (You will need to check this). I believe that your insurance will still be valid today (You will need to check this).

  • Sorry melly I googled something like no ssp1 from employer and it brought up some uk benefit advisers and legal teams - apparantly if you show a P45 it is obvious you are no longer employed by the company and are entitled to benefit . They did say you will probably have to argue your point , surprise , surprise !

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • The police say they can't tell us anything due to the Data Protection Act but they will get in contact with the insurers to share information and move the claim along for us today. They have allowed us to have a courtesy car which they weren't going to give us until WaSp said that he needed a car for me in case of emergencies. So thank you for that bit of advice, Welly!

Now we are waiting for the car to arrive and someone from the other insurance company to take our car away to survey the damage. After that they will tell us if they will pay for repairs or write it off and give us a lump sum. We are really hoping that they will repair it, not only do they value it far lower than what we paid for it, we also just paid for 4 new tyres and an MOT!

If they do offer to write it off, you can (in some circumstances) argue against this. A friend of mine did it last year with a car she was very sentimental about.

We're only papering one wall (behind the bed, so if it's hideous we can't see it!), this is a big step forward for DH as he's pattern and colour phobic when it comes to walls! ;)

LOVE the suitcase shelves! Don't know if I'd be able to make them though, I'm a bit of a DIY disaster! :o I found suitcase cabinets which would be ideal for above our new dresser as we need a mirror anyway and the extra storage would be great (in a small flat, you need extra hidden storage everywhere! ;))... again, not sure if I'd be able to do it though although possibly easier than shelves as no sawing required!

I can't actually remember why men lie... I don't have the book anymore to check either! :o

Hope the car is repairable WaS!

    Right back to hmrc attempt

Sorry, don't know why but I was thinking it was up for renewal.

Glad you've got a courtesy car sorted quickly WaS :)

  • Oh, the reading! Contracts and agreements to be accepted everywhere. Poor WaSp being dyslexic isn't finding it easy so I am translating, half of the legal terms are hard enough for me to understand! We are both so tired too, we have only had 2 hours sleep. We can't go to bed yet because the courtesy car needs to be dropped off and our car picked up, plus the police are calling back. All of this could happen anytime up to 7pm.
