I saw Grease as them both fundamentally changing who they were to be what they thought the other one wanted and then realising that they were actually wanted for who they were originally.

I always preferred Rizzo and Kenickie though :D

Or Dirty Dancing spoiler Young idealistic rich girl with daddy issues loses virginity to much older dance teacher who is a gigilo in his spare time at a holiday camp. When his boss finds out he is then gets fired. Girl's dad refuses to talk to her because she had sex Guy comes back and ruins talent show finale to dance with a girl. Guy uses girl's real name which upsets father then proceeds to dry hump her on stage, which Dad is fine with.

I'll admit, I love the movie but it's probably best not to think about the plot too much. :rotfl:

When you think about it, it's no surprise that a lot of men act like complete eejits and think we'll be impressed if this is what society is saying.

    Hello everyone;
I just wanted to pop in & say thank you so much for all your kind words & advice last week, I was at a really low point.
I am feeling a wee bit stronger now, I saw my GP, they were very supportive, I have agreed to go back on some meds for a short term, am seeing a bereavement therapist & will be seeing the GP on a weekly basis too.
I have so far managed to refrain from starting my "touching" routines, though I am encountering an issue with food, but really trying hard with that too.
I am focusing on designing a little nook in our garden where I can go to reflect & remember, the actual hard work will have to wait for the spring, we've snow, high winds & so far had 3 power cuts today.
Anyway, thanks again, I hope you won't mind if I still pop in now and again

I've got to admit, I'm the same now a days. I think I'm taking after my Mam in her way of thinking, although not quite as harsh as her, as I do believe that for some desperate folk they are a life line.

My Mam's feelings on the matter is that here shouldn't be a need for them. If people budgeted correctly and didn't go out buying stuff they just don't need, and just shopped sensibly and bought good wholesome food, then they should be able to manage. Her way of thinking like this is because when she was little they just had my Grandas wage (he was a builder) to feed a family of 6. They ate well, my nana was an excellent cook who made homely filling meals out of very little, and, they still had treats.

She refuses to put in them, and goes as far as telling the collectors why. Whilst I agree with her, I do walk on ahead and am like :o
I think I can reassure your mum.

I lived for six years on Supplementary Benefit, with two pre-school children. It was subsistence living. I didn't get into debt once. We made do with hand-me-downs, jumble sales (no charity shops then!), and gifts. The toys were presents or hand-me-downs, or second-hand, including Christmas and birthday presents. We didn't have days out, unless someone took us. We didn't have holidays. I didn't have a car. My indulgences were my cats, (which I already had before going on benefits) and later my first dog, and a weekly woman's magazine, which I would read and swap with my neighbour's....two for the price of one!
What we ate was pretty basic, home-made food. I had to work out if I could afford a Mars bar. I did do a lot of cooking from scratch. Taught myself from The Good Housekeeping cookbook and the women's magazines. I grew a few veg in my garden and taught myself how to do that, too....sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't! I paid a bit into the milkman's scheme each week, to fund my Christmas food.

We survived, but it was monotonous. If somebody brought me a treat, say a cake, or some chocs, it was like manna from heaven. For four years, a charity gave me a hamper every Christmas, nothing terribly luxurious, standard hamper stuff, but it was lovely! All those extra bits and bobs! Plus, the thought that they cared about us was very cheering. You didn't feel so alone. You felt there was a safety net.

So what I'm saying is that you can be very careful with even basic money, you can be making and growing your own food and meals, and not getting into debt, but it is demoralising never to be able to afford a treat, or better cuts of meat etc.

And yes, if I had been without Benefit for two or three weeks, for some reason, I'd have been in serious trouble and might have had to go begging to friends. No food banks then.

Hello benrben, lovely to hear from you. Glad it went ok with the GP and that you're not feeling too bad, all things considered.

Are you on pinterest? I love it when I'm planning a project but can't quite get started yet for whatever reason. I can spend many a happy hour browsing photos and ideas and putting boards together for decorating my house, craft things, make-up tips, etc. You could get cosy on the sofa with a nice hot drink and plan your beautiful garden, ready for when the better weather comes.

I do understand the need for food banks. But think they are being abused by some people.

A few years ago I use to be really bad for stock piling food and on one occasion managed to give away two big jute bags to one my husbands friend. he was a young man who lived with his parents but they had a car go wrong and no money. He had younger brothers and sisters and I could not let them go hungry.

The other occasion it went to my mum and dad as they had a fire on the farm a whole barn of hay went up. So I raided my cupboards of stuff they eat. To make sure they had some stuff in.

I never though I lived in a very deprived area. But 7 miles away from me is a brighthouse opening. Oh yes its only £15 a week for the next 3 years so ends up costing you triple what you would have paid if you paid out right for it.

    Yours

    Calley

I'm not so sure about that. I think the increase in attacks is more down to women being more likely to report them. I don't actually think !!!!!! is a bad thing, as long as it is consensual and not involving trafficked girls or those below the age of consent but I think that it can give some people unrealistic ideas about sex. I could always tell if a new partner watched a lot of !!!!!!.
