The food is poor they don't offer veg but it got us through.

Without a doubt they are a lifeline for a lot of people. D's cousin and his wife had to use one once when there was a mix up with their benefits. So I do know there is a use for them, but I also (like a lot of things nowadays) they also get used and abused. :(

Julie Roberts is my favourite actress and every now and again I work my way through her films. My best friends wedding, runaway bride, erin brockovich (sp?) etc.

    Big mistake. Big. Huge. :D

The first two videos I owned were Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing. I think I can still recite the scripts for both films!!

I like Pretty Woman bit don't see why people think it's so romantic. Rich dude picks up cheap hooker for sexy times, then as she's Julia Roberts pays her to be his date and buys her clothes so she can blend in, but is still ultimately paying her for sex.

I wish food banks weren't necessary, but I know with benefits issues and so on, it can be necessary for people with no money and no food and that's who should be using them. Not idiots who use them to get free food so they can buy fags, booze or tablets. All that happens is people get fed up donating because of people like that and the people who really need it are screwed.

When I first got thrown out of home, I was rejected for council/HA flats because I was alone, had no kids, no drug problems and wasn't escaping an abusive ex (this was a direct quote from the housing officer). I managed to rent a tiny flat, with no heating. I was earning about £700 a month at that point and after rent and bills, I was left with £10 a week for food and other stuff (cleaning products, birthday presents, travel etc). I was told I didnt qualify for help with rent or council tax. I managed, just although I lived on mostly value beans on toast and pasta and veggie curry. Luckily I managed to get a waitressing job nearby which provided staff meals so I ate well once a day. It was so tough but I budgeted like crazy and my mum always taught me to pay rent first to keep a roof over my head, then work everything else out. I'm not sure it can still be done these days, as supermarkets noticed value ranges being more popular and raised prices or got rid of them altogether and I pretty much depended on those.

I feel the same about Grease. Guy has great time with girl, then denies even knowing her in front of his mates. Girl then has complete personality transplant and seems to lose all sense of her self worth and morals. Guy then interested again.

How the hell is that a happy ending?!?

    .

Yeah, I'm not a romantic at all really, so I don't watch it for that aspect!

Grease is one of D's favourite films (surprisingly, as he's into action/end of the world kinda movies) but I've never watched it.
