Thanks for the reassurance everyone :) I know I'm being irrational, but I think I've just set the Guinness world record for fastest time to visit the bathroom! :rotfl: It wasn't the bite I was worried about (as such), just this great big monster emerging from the loo and crushing us all!

I don't know if this is true or not as my elder brother always told tall tales. He has worked in the construction/building trade most of his life.

He said you should keep the loo seat down at all times as once he was working in a condemned building and the rats were coming up the loos in to the building!!!!

Congratulations to proud parents of escapee.

I am home and the Reynaud's has already kicked in, which is slightly depressing as it's not actually that cold yet. (Gitdog is also looking hypothermic but that's probably down to missing the heat lamps in the kennels under which he is apparently a permanent fixture.)
Not that I'm wishing my life away, but roll on next spring.

Did I ever mention the holiday episode involving parent, a rat and a shower?

Hotel in Nepal. Large bucket of water placed over shower plughole, reason unspecified.
Parent removes it to have a shower. Mid shampoo she hears a noise, and presumes she has dropped the shampoo bottle. Bending over to retrieve it, she comes nose to nose with an equally startled rat emerging from plug hole into the shower with her.
Cue loud parental scream, exiting naked at speed into the bedroom followed closely by said rat, while daughter rolls around the bed laughing hysterically and generally being unhelpful.
    Still makes me chortle now.

lol - that is true calley, but only in reference to disused buildings where the plumbing has not been used for a while and the water is low. In normal households, no creature has the perserverance to work it's way through the water and plumbing and into a house - they are just not that bothered! In fairness though, having worked in construction ( and being a girly) I never spent long enough in the bathrooms to find out for myself as it was normally a case of hold your breath and run in! OR in one case........."Well, we've been using that bush - so you can use that one!" - Ah the joys of construction site work (and people wonder why I have toilet paper, baby wipes, disinfectant and hand sanitiser in my bag AT ALL times!!!!)

    Elsien - lmao

The rain had stopped and I am back outside working int he garden until the in-laws arrive who are mysteriously late............very unlike them. Hmmmmmm............does anyone else do that immediate panic thing if someone is late?

WaSp says don't panic Georgie, the snake won't constrict unless it feels very threatened, it is more likely to run away! It also won't bite unless it feels under threat, pythons aren't bad tempered at all and humans are too big for them to bother with unless the snake is scared. Bunnies or guinea pigs in neighbouring gardens are a different matter if the snake gets hungry but they only eat once every week or two so hopefully not a worry either. It won't stay in the sewer for long because they like warmth, WaSp reckons it is probably out of there already.

WaSp kept snakes for years before he met me and had a python himself along with several other types. Once he reached 5ft he popped him into a reptile centre where he led a very happy life as an educational snake for school children because he was so friendly.

Hahahaha I loved the penguins, JM! That's adorable!

Hope all of our poorlies feel better today and best wishes to Welly and little one!

Big hugs code, that just isn't fair.

Good luck on Thursday RJ and yay for ex's stuff being gone! How sweet of ex's mum!

I still look like a Doctor Who baddie. My face looks scalded and underneath it all the spots are still there! Argh!

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeee! The Rainforest centre that I visited earlier this year now has a baby armadillo that you can meet and feed! This shall be my birthday trip out in November! They were so lovely before, allowing me to visit when it was only the keepers there and I am pretty certain that will agree again. I have to cuddle an armadillo! I HAVE to!
