Have a slice of cake Birdie, there's plenty left!
Awww poor little bird, hope he's feeling better soon.
Good news about the twatty housemate MU, hopefully he'll pull his socks up and behave now.0 -
Georgie, if it helps any, I don't think the things you are talking about bite.
Poor Little Bird. Squishes and lucozade for him. Did anyone get lucozade when they were ill? My friends all got lucozade and magazines but as the daughter of a nurse, I got no sympathy.
Yay about annoying housemate MU.
On my way back to the factory of horror and doom (aka work). DH is still off which is incredibly unsupportive of him, but at least DA dog gets slowly weaned back into the routine by losing his main source of cuddles. DH is the fun one and I apparently am the pillow.
Also back on the diet. I didn't gain any weight on holiday (and I ate and drank loads!) but DH was mortified when the nurse at his checkup told him he was overweight and he's gained another stone since then. He doesn't look fat to me - he's very tall - but he is getting a bit of a belly so he's calorie counting. Since as a man, he'll lose weight much faster than my pathetic snail crawl and I was hoping to end up lighter than him, I need to stick to it.
Also hunted down my crochet stuff and started making a blanket - or a million granny squares. Then I found a massive ball of self striping wool so made a granny square out of that. It looked cool so I kept going. It may also become a blanket or just a massive square.
And Yay for escapee or ELS. Well done welly.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Georgie - not only do that kind not bite, they eat once every several weeks. Also, the water in the sewage system is too cold for them, so it will get back into the open air rather than swim around for ages. Pretty sure the last case I heard of in the news, escaped the same way but was found in the owner's garden.
Personally I think anything that grows to that size is an incredibly bad pet to have!:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Georgie - on't worry hon, if it pops up at your house, I will come and get it for you as I am quite fond of snakes and creepy crawlies. It really will not be a threat and will be much more scared of you than you are of it. They have such a bad reputation, poor things. And to give you snakey laughs - my mum once had a grass snake in her garden, whom I called Jeffery. I tried to catch him for the ENTIRE summer - cue much diving around the garden, leaping head long into the mud, chasing and screaming all round the garden................never did catch him. My mum had started off scared but ended up running a score chart between me and Jeffery and she was laughing and rooting for Jeffery all the time! He absolutely loved the pond too - and used to do somersaults and make awesome shapes in the surface - think he was a complete show off (plus I am still sure he was taunting me saying "you can't catch me nananananana")
{squishes to all} sorry if I don't do personal replies all the time etc - but I am reading and rooting for everyone.
I am now running in and out to the garden in between rain showers in a desperate attempt to get it tidy for the winter. We have done so much work out there and although it is not finished, I wanted it to at least look acceptable for the winter and so want to move piles of rocks, slabs, offcuts of wood etc. Blessed rain is against me this week!
Escapee surely has to remain as escapee??? But the question is, does welly become the welly warden?0 -
Aww love that story about Jeffery Flybaby! :rotfl:
Code, not only did I get Lucozade when I was poorly, it's still my go-to drink when I'm ill! That and ginger biscuits! Will be good when Little Bird is old enough for the healing power of Lucozade!
Hope your first post-holiday day at work goes well and you stick to the diet! I've just eaten a load of chocolate (already!) so you can guess how well my diet's going at the minute?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
It's being severely tested atm and I've only been in the office for 39 minutes. Returned to find everyone has been promoted (senior management have been giving themselves lots of promotions) except me obvs, and there will be staff cuts of 40-50%, only its unlikely that I'll be offered a good enough package to leave. So I'll be left here doing the work of 6 people. So errm...yeah.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Code that sounds pretty dreadful, have some diet-safe virtual cake x Time to look at other job opportunities again?
Flybaby hope the rain stops for long enough for you, I think I'd be feeling much the same!:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Thanks for the reassurance everyone
I know I'm being irrational, but I think I've just set the Guinness world record for fastest time to visit the bathroom! :rotfl: It wasn't the bite I was worried about (as such), just this great big monster emerging from the loo and crushing us all!
Anyhoo, I can relax again thanks to the reassurances, and also with having flybaby on stand by!Had to laugh at the story about Jeffery, not least because I have a BIL called that! :rotfl:

Boo to work related issues code
I used to get given lucazade when I was poorly too. We always had loads in because my a Dad drank a lot for energy when he was fell walking and cycling. Because of that, I love the original flavour, most people pull a face when you mention that one, preferring the orange (or some other flavoured one).
