As a strictly one at a time person myself, I don't think there's anything wrong with your attitude. The advice about use of online dating sites that I see always says one should be talking to and arranging dates with multiple people, which I find completely off-putting. How can I be interested in more than one person at once? And if I'm rejected, it takes a while before I want to be looking for anyone else.

I think you need to look at it like a job search rather than dating initially. If you're looking for someeone to fill a position (the future Mrs Ono), you don't just interview one person, you read the applications from a few, meet the ones that fit the criteria and then pick the one you like the best. Otherwise you get your feelings hurt waiting for someone who turns out to be wrong, meanwhile, the one who might have been right, is off on a date with someone else. I have been cheated on and had my heart broken and I'd never do that to someone else, so it was an alien concept but it really is a game of chance and timing. I'd say for every person I talked online with, I met 1 in 4. Of those, 80% I never met again, 7% were colourful and 3% I had more than one date with.

With Mr CP, I was talking to 5 people, and he was talking to 2. If I'd only been talking to one at a time, we'd never have met.

Remember, despite the fact it's called internet dating, you're not actually dating anyone until 2 or 3 dates in when you can decide.

Tea - back in my dating days, I had a foolproof test for men who went cool. I'd stop texting. If they were interested they'd make the effort. If they didn't, it was upsetting but at least I knew to stop wasting my time.

I have said this before, but I was amazed at how many unmarriable men there are out there and how many marriable men there are now I am married. It's not that I am less fussy or even more realistic - just that I am happier in myself so not as rigid about other people.

Mr Hotlips may be making way for Mr Sexyarse, tea.

I shall have to stop this conversation before I convince myself that ono and you ought to have a date!

I actually came on here to ask a question about space. Not extra-terrestrial space. Empty space. What pricetag should I put on empty space in my home and small garden? I am thinking that it may be easier to 'let things go' if I could say, do I like it more than X pounds? What do you reckon?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    ^^ This!

Done some tidying. Done a load of washing and another one is in. Emptied and refilled the dishwasher. Emptied the kitchen food waste bin. Took the dog a walk. Found an injured, limping swan being chased out of the river by the other swans. Called the SSPCA. Cried a bit when the guy told me the other swans were his parents chasing him away now he's an adult. Feel like a dumbass for crying about a swan. Cried again about the swan while I typed this. Realised I am an emotional basketcase. That sort of thing.

The best parenting is allowing your offspring to be independent. If young swan isn't chased away, he/she won't find a mate.

There probably isn't enough food for three adults........young swan has to find their own territory.

I know but he was injured and scared because a dog had just been at him and was making sad noises, so the mean old swans could have let him stay. I hope the SSPCA dude managed to find him before another dog did.

    You're an angel thank you.
Tea - I am a swan hater too, one attacked my mummy once and I went to town on it with my flip flop till it left her alone (I was very small and my flip flop was the only thing to hand - apparently it was rather comical to see a toddler go mental at a swan that was bigger than her!)
