Tea.. I think you should be really proud of yourself for taking your powder back.. abusive relationships are so hard to leave because they are so good at affecting your self esteem.. even leaving an abusive person, there is still a grieving process to be had. You were brave and strong to leave :)
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

The alternative thread motto ' I am not a turtle' is apparently Den eimai chelona. (accent over the first i and the 3rd e)

He's going to be so upset and at home on his own and I'm so scared about what he's going to do. I can't believe I've done this :(.

Tea, listen to yourself. What have you done exactly? Defended yourself against a frightening situation.
Got yourself out of an abusive, empty relationship.
Dealt with it all with dignity.

Don't let thoughts of him being "upset and at home on his own" turn you into a victim again. That's what manipulators do....they make the victim think it's all their fault and make them feel guilty.

He's not alone. He has his mother at the very least. He has his friends who know the situation.

The police aren't stupid. The situation obviously worried them enough to do something about it. They nipped it in the bud.

If he starts threatening to hurt himself, that's not your fault either. It'd be more manipulation.

Plus, by making you take drastic steps, it's quite likely that in his own mind he can rationalise and justify things by saying to himself, look how horrible she's been to me! Setting the police on me! Poor hard -done by me!
    That's what manipulators do.

You spent many years with him, but you had the guts to end it. Those years aren't wasted; you will have learned a lot from them.

Now you can move forward....there's a happy life to be had out there, with someone who loves and values you. It may take a while to find him, but you will!

Onward and upward, Tea! You've been MAGNIFICENT,:T

Yes, hope it turns out to be a good thing.

(The gremlins have attacked my thanks button and turned it intermittent.)

Gitdog has sore eyes - off to the vet later. This may mean eye drops and I am not picturing a great deal of co-operation in applying them. Seriously considering setting up the camera for "you've been framed."
On the positive side, Gitdog has been helping nan with her exercise by playing ring-a-roses with her round the garden shed. She's strangely unenthused about having her own personal trainer.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Ugh elsien, you have my sympathies. It's hard enough getting eyedrops into a placid dog like DA dog.

    Good luck melly.

How are you doing today tea?

When you attempt to give gitdog eye drops can we all watch please?? I'd pay per view of that! :rotfl:

Getting there code. Have felt better, but I'm sure I've felt worse too! As I said to P cat at 2am, how many more sleepless nights am I going to spend bawling my eyes out over this bloke? Am knackered, have a banging headache, I can't speak without crying and I'm checking my phone every 10 seconds but hey.... at least it's my last day in work.

Thank you all once again for the v kind words. You have no idea how much it means to me x.

Huge hugs Tea, the others have all covered it really but look at it as yet another way he's manipulating you, making it 'your fault' that he's miserable and alone. He's the one at fault, you wasted so many years trying to make the relationship work when he couldn't be bothered and now that you've left him he is like a child having a tantrum because he's not allowed his own way! The police were clearly concerned enough to speak to him so you weren't overreacting.

Just read that article about the Muppets Christmas Carol, lovely! I still remember begging for the VHS the year it came out and Mum not buying me it, because she'd already bought it for Christmas! I was so happy when I opened it and put it on straight away. :D

My phone has died and I'm really not happy about it! I have to use DH's old phone which will only charge using one specific cable (fussy thing!) and when I make a call I can only hear the person if I put it on loud speaker! Trying to send it off to be fixed through my bank insurance but I can't get the IMEI number as you need to turn on the phone to get it (???)... not very helpful when the bloomin thing won't turn on! I can't do an early upgrade on it as I'm not due an upgrade until August. Boo! :(
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
