You've done this because you had to do this tea. You had no choice. I can totally understand you being concerned about him, it's only natural as he doesn't sound in a good place right now. Hopefully though this will mean a turnaround for him and he'll leave you alone and you can both move on.

I'm being an idiot, I know I am. I'm now doing exactly what he's been doing - remembering it all as far better than it was!

The whole thing was a disaster from the start, he lied to me from the moment we met, and the last 2yrs in particular have been bl**dy horrible. He's a selfish, inconsiderate tool that never showed me the slightest respect or interest and is incapable of thinking of anyone else, let alone putting them first. We don't even have anything in common. So why do I feel like I've just destroyed the love of my life?

HE has proved once and for all what a selfish, ignorant, stupid, uncaring !!!*ole he is.
You are ANGRY at him for treating you like a doormat and you are ANGRY at him for scaring the living daylights out of you lately.
You are SAD because he has destroyed any potential for a future friendship. You are SAD because you gave your trust and whole being to someone and he threw it back at you like a rag.
You have handled this awful situation with the utmost dignity and care and concern for him that he utterly did not deserve. You have done the right thing. And you have lost nothing...........you have gained your strength............ you have gained and shown your assertiveness and independence and I am pretty sure I can speak for everyone when I say that we are dead proud of you.
Sniffle those tears away, forget about him, and screw the diet - you need an evening of celebrating YOU - drinkypoos, cake, ice cream, wotsits...........etc etc.

Tea you did what you had to do. He forced your hand on this and end of the day you have to do what's best for you. That's what matters in this whole thing. You doing what's best for you. Yes screw the diet lol. If ever there was a time for a glass of wine and some cake it's now. Take care of yourself.
