You hair looks lovely, Melly and I love the doggy photo! They look so close.
Hope you have a peaceful day, tea. You deserve a day to relax.
Don't feel bad, Georgie. I have blurted things on occasion and WaSp is a master at it when he's tired. When we first started dating he told me it's best not to talk to him at all before his first coffee of the day, now I do because I'm used to it and find his grumpiness amusing, and so does he mostly!
On the point of amusing things, I have spent the day chatting to my teacher friend about grammar. Because I have huge OCD problems about my writing (hence nearly all of my posts are edited because I can't handle one forgotten apostrophe) I often his pick his brain about the correct way to write things. It turns out that the lot of the old grammar rules no longer need to be adhered to, and much of what I was taught isn't so rigid anymore. I am spluttering, now I have no idea how to write correctly because everything is changing! Believe it or not little things like that really bother me, I need rules! A world without apostrophes doesn't bear thinking about. Some things just can't be ignored, however hard I try.
Do you have a position on split infinitives?:pAll shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hahahaha! The original Star Trek introduction used to drive me mad with it's split infinitives! I am still smarting that you can start a sentence with "And", no you can't! You can also vary numbers in a piece of writing by either writing numerical form or word form. No you can't, it's one or the other! This is just the tip of the iceberg, so many of the old rules have been disregarded. Funnily enough, my 74 year old teacher friend is gently mocking me and telling me to keep up with the times, no thanks! I am clinging to my grammar rules for all I am worth!
Oh, and it is two spaces after a full stop, not one! Hmph!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I find auto carrot has a bad habit of apostrophising words unnecessarily. Then I read posts back and think "nòooo."
There's a lot of the old rules I wasn't taught, so am probably blithely breaking them all over the place. I spent many an hour with grandparent checking rules that she'd forgotten and I'd never learned.
What's the official line on "my husband and I?"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Finally got around to putting the tree up. Sort of. It's massive! So Mr CP (who doesn't even like the tree) has been sent out for more fairy lights as I quickly realised 200 wasn't quite going to cut it.
Hope you're OK tea.
WaS, my posts must drive you nuts with my random autocarrots. Also, I bought Christmas bags and once I got them home, I realised that they have a stray apostrophe - it says 'sleigh's'. Now I think I can't use them.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
That no longer has to happen, Elsien! It is outrageous! One can now happily say me and my husband and it is acceptable and being taught that is fine. I edit almost every post here for typo's and grammar, it really gets to me if it isn't correct and I fret on it. Now it turns out a lot of the old rules no longer apply anyway. I am horrified, I tell you! (Note double spacing after the full stop, I was informed that almost no one does that anymore. Don't care!).
Hahahaha! funnily enough, code I LOVE other people's autocarrots, DYAC is one of my favourite sites. I don't notice it in other people's writing. It just sticks out to me like a sore thumb in mine!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

It's 'my husband and me', I believe. They had a grammar quiz on bbc a while ago and that was the only one I got wrong.
WaS, 'my husband and I' is grammatically incorrect now.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Noooooooooo, they broke another one! Stop breaking them, I need rules! My teacher friend told me it is far more relaxed now which means I can relax when I write, he DOES know I have OCD!

Funnily enough, most Christmas Songs don't trigger me so WaSp is frequently subjected to 3 hour Youtube compilations of them. He is counting the days until it is over for some reason.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
