Good idea Pyxis. Might get hubby to take him actually.
He is very protective over Escapette now, and won't go off and leave her if he can see her. If I take him then she will be in the car with me so he likely will refuse to leave the car. If hubby takes him on his own then it should be less stressful for everyone.

Got to go shopping later to buy a gun! Going to see star wars tomorrow in fancy dress and I am going as Han Solo (turns out I already own most of the costume components, which doesn't say much for my dress sense!). Not looking forward to tackling toy shops this close to Christmas.

Got counselling session later. I'm finding it good to be able to talk to someone openly, just not sure if it is helping me move forward with things as I am just talking about past events. Think she is due to start the EMDR soon, but has anyone got any tips on how I can get the most out of my sessions?
I want to tackle my hulk outbursts mainly as that has the most impact on family life. I suspect tackling that will help with my anxiety too as a lot of my anxiety is due to worrying about how I will react to future hypothetical events.

Sometimes past events open up an understanding of why you react as you do now.
I was firmly opposed to psychotherapy etc, felt it was self indulgent to keep going over the past (still feel that to a degree. Not knocking it for others, just my personal preference.) However counselling did help me to identify some patterns which had contributed to my illness. I got some tools to manage it, but also found just having that awareness of my default settings helped me to question and change some of my reactions.
Maybe it's a conversation to have with the counsellor?

Ref doggy kennels, Gitdog is happy to go in, fine when he's there, then annoying when he comes back as he gets clingy for a few days. Nothing that routine and consistency doesn't cure.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Funny (but shameful) story....was out for dinner at a friend's last night. Lovely night, 9 people, great food, lots of laughs, had a great time. Got home and was really pleased with myself that I hadn't taken my phone so hadn't checked online for hours (not like me!) Absolutely gutted when I realised that I hadn't had any pof messages in that time. Then realised I actually had, but the notification thing wasn't working.

    I am worryingly obsessed already!

Chatting to some nice (or seem nice at least) people. Still not sure how you'd ever be brave enough to meet anyone though!

Thank you welly, code MU and anyone else who's success stories are giving me hope :)
  • I think you're brave tea (and all the others who've done online dating), I don't think I could do it!

Of course you could Georgie but D might complain a bit. It's a bit like online shopping for a boyfriend/girlfriend and now that there is no stigma attached its ok.

Tea - first time you meet someone, its a bit nerve-wracking but its ok after the first few minutes. If you look at meeting someone as a possible new friend, its much easier. And you get to meet some people you wouldn't have met otherwise. Funny idating story. My friend met her husband on a subscription dating site after a friend of hers told her she'd met her husband on it, which is what convinced me to do it. After I met Mr CP, I convinced my single friends to give it a go and all but one met people too, but I digress. So anyway, after a couple of dates it turned out they were into the same things and had been to all the same gigs - so they'd been in the same room hundreds of times before and never met. It's also worth noting that there was no thunderbolt when they first met, but they got on well, went out a few times and it blossomed from there. I think as long as you don't expect love at first sight (which is how the one who didn't meet anyone went about it), it works really well.

Managed to sleep right through to the alarm this morning. Still feeling a bit rubbish though so working from home even though its my last day before holidays.
