Me too tea. Everytime I make any progress, the system crashes and I lose everything, or someone asks me to do something and I lose momentum.
In other news apparently the guy from the interview liked me and I'm through to the next stage of the process.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
I went to a family 'do' yesterday with littlewing. It was heartwarming and Christmassy and littlewing kept getting told she looked very pretty. She was an angel. Usually she shadows me but she sat with the other children and as long as I caught her eye occasionally she had a wonderful time.
My relative's cancer is terminal. She has lost weight since the summer and this will be her last Christmas. There were a few tears, mainly outside, but other than that it was a normal family gathering of very kind, thoughtful people.
It really was a lovely day. I have explained to littlewing when we were having a cuddle in bed that we probably won't see her again. She said, I feel sad now. It nearly broke my heart but I think it won't come as such a shock eventually; especially if other family members are crying. The party was perfect though - extraordinary for being ordinary.
Today DH and I have been sorting out xmas stockings, updating the list, and writing cards and wrapping presents. It feels never ending and I feel worn out - mostly in a good way, but it could easily turn into a low mood. So, I think I am going to accept that I am not superhuman and have a rest rather than try and squash 25 more tasks in before I get littlewing from school.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Very exciting code! How you feeling about that?
Sorry to hear about your relative WW, but pleased that you had a lovely day together yesterday. I hope you managed to fit a little rest in!0 -
Random sleep fact, source Oxford University Sleep Department (You can find this on their Sleepio website, so I'm not giving medical advice, it is already online. Take it or leave it!) - We need to eat within 3 hours of waking to tell our body that is time to enter waking mode. It can be something as small as a banana or half a slice of toast, just something that wakes up our metabolism and raises our insulin levels so that our body knows to start the day. Coffee doesn't work because although it lifts our metabolism it doesn't raise insulin, which means we plummet back into sleep mode when it wears off. Things like smoothies do work. I don't usually eat for 8 hours after waking and live off coffee instead so this is something I really have to work on!
Good afternoon all!
Well done on the interview, code! How exciting!
Sorry to hear about your relative, whitewing. How sad. Littlewing sounds so adorable, she is such a good little girl.
Hahahaha! Baby Bird sounds wonderful, Birdie!
Hope Gitdog is ok, elsien!
Ugh, how frustrating, tea! You need a biscuit.
I crawled, literally, out of bed today at my planned wake up hour. I could have easily slept for another 3 hours but I am not allowed to do that anymore. I feel ok now, I made my Christmas cake yesterday and the oven didn't gas us. Today, I am planning on putting some decorations up, I won't say all because I have enough for 5 flats but it's a start!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Not sure. Scared a bit. Not sure if I want to do the scary thing. At the same time it'd be a good learning opportunity and easier to travel to. Still got a few more stages of the process to screw up so probably don't need to worry too much.
Sorry about your relative ww. I have one in the same position. She's doing radiotherapy but afaik its just to give her a few more months. Littlewing sounds like a total sweetheart.
Only a week til holidays and I still haven't put my tree up. I did block my crochet oranments but got blood on one (pricked myself with a pin) and rust on another (took 2 days to dry and the pin went rusty) but I doubt it will be noticeable on the tree.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. The fact is you interviewed well and the interviewer like you, code! That is a huge accomplishment!
I need to put my tree up too. I doubt I will today if I put everything else up because I will be doing it for hours. Think of Christmas coming in and vomiting everywhere, that's what my decorations look like by the time I have finished.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Haha WaS, that's the look my mum and sister go for too. I have one tiny tree decoration which I rest on the fireplace - that's it! I do have a tree which I actually love but I haven't dared put it up since P cat arrived... he'd eat the lights, or the tinsel, or both.
I love looking at other people's decorations and lights in the knowledge that I don't have to try and clean around them
Your crochet decorations sound lovely code! As WaS said, you've already done really well to get an interview and then be so impressive that they want to speak to you again. Loads of people really struggle to get that far (I know lol!) so you should be very proud of yourself, whatever happens next.0 -
When I used to do Christmas, I went bonkers in the living room and hall, and pretty bonkers in the dining room, with lots of real foliage, real tree, candles and carol-singing mice, etc.
I'd do a deep clean, put the decorations up and on everything, and then no more dusting until after Christmas!
Real log fire, chestnuts, you name it.
Now though, because I go away to escape, I just put an unlit mini tree in the porch and that's it. Nothing anywhere else.

Don't worry Pyxis, WaSp is exactly the same. He hates just about everything about Christmas, he has just learnt to tolerate it over the years because my tidal wave of all things festive is all but unstoppable. Funnily enough, it is WaSp who is nagging me to put up the decorations now, not because he wants them at all but because he knows it makes me happy. He hates the whole idea but likes that it makes me bounce everywhere excitedly and puts me in a very good mood!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

WaS, I'm the same as you. I love decorations.
Was trying to get the place tidied up so I could put the tree up but DA dog kept messing it up again. I put all his toys in his bed. He gave me a dirty look and brought them all back again when my back was turned.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0
