Welly statistically it takes several tries to leave have you read the women's aid stuff think there some stuff on there for families.

Going out with them is a brill way to bond are you enjoying it?

Melly, she has left a good ten or more times so far and handed her notice in at work before and then retracted it. She wanted to retract it again this time but not sure they will let her now as she has messed them around a lot. I totally understand why she does what she does, but am concerned about the impact it is having on other family now who are concerned for her safety.

I've had a lot to do with women's aid and have sent her info, but she still isn't ready to leave and so isn't taking it on board yet.

Well done on the toastie. Little and often might be the way to go rather than attempting daunting big meals first off.

Ahhh...drinking is not a good idea. Fancying your mates is not a good idea. Online dating is not a good idea.
That's why I stopped drinking in public/social events about four years ago. I had given up wine, so it was easy to do. But what really convinced me to was when I said something really silly to someone while on holiday. It wasn't anything compromising, insulting or anything like that, just really silly. (I wasn't even drunk, just had had wine with the meal, etc.) So I said to myself, that's it, no more drinking in company. No more of the tongue-loosening, brain-numbing drug!

Quite apart from the fact that it makes me hot and I go pink and flushed; not a pretty sight!

I do have beer at home, though! Funnily enough, I never say anything silly to myself at home! I always say wonderfully philosophical, clever and profound things there! :D

You do pyxis - of course you do! :D

As far as I know I didn't say (or do!) anything too awful. Was just a bit put out as I got the impression that my mate was a bit off with me. But then looking back I don't know why I thought that as we had a laugh as ever and I've heard from him this morning. Drinking just makes me paranoid and miserable.... this is why I don't do it very often! That and the fact that hangovers now last about 6 weeks. I've made it to work, now I'm going to have a can of coke and a packet of crisps.... breakfast of champions :rotfl:.

Welly - hope today goes ok. Meeting new people always seems scary but hopefully you'll have a lovely day :)
  • Pyxis, I agree with you about the Last Kingdom, have really enjoyed it and looks like the door is open for a second series (fingers crossed).

Yes. I, erm, have some experience of this :o

I disagree with you about drinking though :p , I enjoy it in good company. Won't have more than a pint of beer or glass of wine if I'm working the next day though, I'm too old and sleep too badly for getting up for work with the after effects, which is why we always try to have the company Christmas meal on a Friday, so I can wobble down to the bus station to get home and not have to worry about getting up the next morning! :D

    This would have been sensible.

3 pints of strong beer and half a bottle of prosecco was not. :p

Haha Tea! Hope you feel better soon! We had a work party on a school night a few weeks ago and the only thing that could fix my rather fragile body the following day was chocolate milkshake at lunchtime! :p

I still like a drink but don't get much opportunity nowadays. I've moaned before about it, but our friendship group has pretty much dissolved since we have DS so no more Saturday nights out! I sent a message around to my girlfriends last month about having a night out but they're all so busy with other friends and work etc that we've had to settle for dinner out on Sunday night. Not too impressed TBH, I wanted to get all dressed up and drink cocktails, not drive 30 minutes, have a small glass of wine with an overpriced pizza then go straight home because I have to be up early the next day! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
