Was feeling abit of colour today anyhow, and abit bleugh, but D has just came down stairs and told me that everyone in his team is expecting a phone call at 3pm. There's been talk for a long time about people losing their jobs (more so lately in the last few weeks or so), and so who knows what the call will bring.
There's talk about everyone's jobs going to pod working, which would mean he would have to commute to Chorley everyday. Which considering it is a 2 1/2 hour plus drive both there and back, that isn't really an option. So, if he couldn't carry on working from home for this company then he'd have to start looking for another job, and now he's in his 40's, he's abit worried that it won't be that easy
So now I'm feeling really on edge and even more bleugh.Fingers crossed everybody.

Sending lots of good thoughts to you and OH, Georgie. Hopefully it won't be anything like that and be something silly instead. Have a big hug and try to distract yourself if you can. Thanks WaS. I hope you're right
I was going to catch up on last weeks Apprentice, but I'm feeling restless and can't sit still. Like you say, I need to be distracted, I think I'll put some more stuff on eBay.

Try not to worry Georgie. A couple of years ago DH and his team were called to a meeting at a hotel that was only used to make people redundant. So naturally we panicked and I started doing maths to work out how long we could survive on only my wages. It was just to tell them about a massive restructure. If it turns out that D had to look for work, age shouldn't be a barrier - I've noticed that my firm in particular prefer older IT staff as they're less likely to do the training and move on. Our last recruitment drive was unsuccessful as very few people even got past the sift, so as long as he can fill in an application form, he's way ahead of the curve.
HBS - well done on the Harry Potter trip. Don't know if you looked at the toxicfox link that ww put up but they have loads of cool Harry Potter jewellery.

DH has manful today........**sighs**.........have just finished doing errands and shopping for him and making his lunch.......he is being very good but it is already 1pm and I have not started studying yet today................
Welly - pm me and tell me all about the job
I am......er.........holding it together ish? So up and down at the moment it is hard to cope. I am seriously thinking that the Uni thing was too much to take on as the stress and worry about it is making me 10 times worse than usual and I am so disappointed with my performance and grades. I have no pressure from anyone on the study thing, only myself, but I have never been satisfied with my level of achievement and this is no exception so far. I should have just kept my head in the sand!

Thanks code (yes I'm back already as I can't even be bothered to put stuff on eBay!)
Even if he isn't made redundant, he'd have to take redundancy anyhow if it all went to pod working as travelling all that way every day just wouldn't be viable. They're a crap company to work for in many ways. They're always getting rid of departments, restructuring and one boss doesn't have a clue what the other boss is doing.
It's good to know that IT companies seem to prefer older IT staff, and there's still plenty of places round here he could go to for a job, but I can't see them being as well paid as his current one is.
Anyhoo, as my Dad would always say "what's the point in worrying? You can't do anything about it, it is what it is"0 -
Good luck GG (and Mr GG of course). I hate when you get half-information like that. Just announce something or don't - an announcement about an announcement just freaks everyone out! Will have everything crossed for you that it's good news (or at least, not bad news!)
Had a 5am start and am so knackered and past caring already today. Plus, and I know this sounds ridiculous, I'm really missing P catI'm stuck in a hotel tonight and I know he'll be well looked after (read: spoilt by grandparents lol) but there are days when only a cat cuddle will do and this is one of them.

Flybaby, hang on in there.
The first term/year is always the worst, especially if you've had a long gap between studying.
Have a good break over Christmas, then have a fresh start in the New Year. With days starting to lengthen, everything looks more hopeful!
Maybe use the break to consolidate and tidy your notes?
You can do it! :T(I just lurve spiders!)
