My dad is of the opinion that you can't beat my mum's cooking. Her cooking is terrible, but he likes it. I'm making them a sweet and biscuit hamper so just need something for him to open. I got my mum a scarf and the cutest fluffy cat slippers. He's just so difficult to buy for. I think maybe novelty fart pants and something called poopourri that you spray in the loo before you poo. He'll probably get a kick out of that.

Once I've done that, I just have a couple of bits for the hampers, mostly wine, beer and snacks and stuff for Mr CPs stocking and I'm done.

Welly - it will only get easier from here. You're doing what you need to, for you and the beardy one and Escapette and giving her time to bond with grandparents. Mr CP was looked after by his grandparents while his parents worked and he really treasures those memories. Hugs. It must be so hard.

Littlewing has just told me that if I don't want to buy her Aquabeads for Christmas, 'that's fine; we'll just get Father Christmas to get them for me'.

Those fart pants look quite good. Do they muffle the sound too, lol? I had no idea such things exist.

Aw, big hugs, welly. You are bound to feel guilty and I know nothing I can say can stop that. Try to keep reminding yourself that Escapette is safe in a loving environment and she is learning to feel safe with other people, this will help her development and be very useful at a later date if Beardy one and you feel like a few hours break to be alone in the future. It IS hard but she knows who her mummy is, nothing will change that and she will be so happy to see you when you finish work even she can't fully express it yet.

Good morning everyone! I had one of my mammoth sleeps for most of yesterday but I appear to be awake again now. I need to clean the flat, since WaSp has been unable to I have been making a huge effort to keep on top of it by doing everything the minute it needs cleaning (while WaSp reminds me what I'm doing). I seem to have a sofa avalanche of Things That Do Not Have A Home on the seat next to me which is threatening to fall my head at any moment. So I shall be proactive and have another coffee and pretend it isn't there.

Work will get easier Welly. It must be hard leaving her when she's still so little but she's safe and loved and you're doing the best thing for your family. Some days you'll bounce into work full of joy because you'll be so glad of the break... yep, I often go to work for a break! And a hot drink, drunk whilst it's still hot! And unchaperoned bathroom visits! As much as I love DS, I couldn't be a SAHM, I'd go mad.

I have NO idea what to get my Dad for Christmas. His birthday is 9 days before it and I'm drawing a total blank there too! He's just sworn off booze forever after being in hospital with a chest infection and declaring that he was going to look after himself now (he did drink too much...) so he never had to go back to that 'awful place' so the go-to gift idea of a nice-bottle-of-something has been squashed!

Was's brain- Things That Do Not Have A Home. Poor things are homeless, feeling unwanted because they have no place in life, clinging into a pile for security in hopes they do not get thrown away.

Yep, I have managed to guilt-trip myself into dealing with sofa avalanche with one sentence. I am not sure whether it is useful or completely insane that I think this way but it works! I shall start cleaning...

Other people feel guilt for inanimate objects, right? Right?

Birdie - I know what you mean. My go to present for my dad was a bottle of whisky as he liked a wee dram of an evening. All my siblings did the same though, so he has a slush pile of the stuff that he can't drink because he's on medication. Last year I got him a Christmas jumper. What does your dad like? How old is he? What's the budget. I'm sure Team WaS (especially whitewing the present ninja) can come up with some ideas. Hope your throat feels better ww.

The fart pants are only meant to muffle the smell. I got some of the shreddies ones for DH last year but his smells are too mighty. Speaking of which DA dog is especially stinky today.

I got into my new pair of size 14 jeans today. Does happy dance.

Also yes WaS, I feel so much guilt about inanimate objects which is why I hardly ever throw stuff away, which is why my house is a tip.
