  • Hahahaha! that's very true. Pyxis! Neither of us had any idea that Saab's need special keys to take off a tire, apparently WaSp should have been given a key when he bought it. We have one now for a ridiculous price but he will never live down the embarrassment of having to run to one of those little phone boxes and tell them that his tire was stuck!

My parents fitted a new kitchen last year and I couldn't even work out how to open the fridge without being shown :rotfl:it's in a weird cupboard thing and the handle isn't anywhere near where you expect it to be.

My car bonnet annoys me. It's got a safety catch so that the bonnet doesn't open and fly up by accident while you're driving. Trouble is, it's so safe, that I can hardly open it when I need to!

I had a courtesy car once, and drove it home, then had to go to an appointment. Found I couldn't put it in reverse! So managed to drive off, forget how. I think I pushed the car back manually! :D Told the appointment person, and she said she had one like that..........you had to press something on the gear stick before it would go into the reverse position! You'd never have known by looking at it!

  • It was a loan car from the garage that was servicing mine, and being a beat up old Saab 0there weren't any instructions with it. It turned out there was a little lever at the side of the driver's seat to release the fuel filler, which the owner of the garage showed me when I bought it back to them in the evening. Yes, I was embarassed!

I'm also in the "don't wash cars" club. As long as it goes, I'm happy. I have AA membership too, and have used them often enough over the years.

No :rotfl:, I am just a muppet!

If anything it should have been even easier to open - my mum doesn't have much use in her hands so everything around the house is easy to use (think huge phone buttons, handles on plugs, electric tin opener, massive cutlery handles, etc).

Oh yes! Mine's got one of those! The times I've got out, locked the car, gone round to the filler cap, and realised I forgot to release the lever! Still occasionally do that after nearly ten years!

I don't wash cars. I tried once and it killed my back, and I was reasonably young then! So I take it to a Romanian/Bulgarian/ Lithuanian place who jet it for me!

  • I cannot work child locks! Our new window in the bedroom has a child lock type thing on it with a spring so that you can keep it slightly open but no one can open it further from the outside, I can't open the window at all. I am also defeated by childproof pill bottles, hence I now get all of my medication in foil packages. Practical I am not!

Don't feel bad. I can't do packaging at all. I can never leave Mr CP as I'd never be able to open a jar again.

Some childproof pill bottles are impossible! And difficult to grip because the edges are sharp and hurt!

Don't forget that with prescription meds, you can ask for them to be put in an ordinary bottle!

Best to ask a child, they can generally open them as they have small hands so can grip them better. :A

  • Ah, jars code, I learnt how to do that. Hit the edges on a hard surface like the kitchen counter all around the top, they are easy to open then. You can also buy special jar opening grips, we got one for Milliefleur and she says it really works.

I didn't know you could ask for ordinary bottles for prescription medications. I shall do that for my next prescription because believe it or I managed to slice my finger open on a foil packet a couple of weeks ago. See why I need WaSp?
