I used to love horror films, but cant watch them now. Its ever since I watched the japanese version of The Ring. I cant watch japanese horror at all now, they terrify me!
I also cant do any ghost type stuff, I screamed my head off in the cinema watching Paranormal Activity and couldn't sleep for weeks. I think the ghost thing is due to seeing a lot of things as a kid and I still can't work out what was real and what wasn't.
Had my meeting at the hospital today regarding the things that went wrong with the birth. The midwife manager was really good, and eventually acknowledged that things had gone wrong due to the midwife at the time not listening to us when we were telling her things weren't right, and refusing to check me out.
She asked if I wanted her to pursue disciplinary proceedings with the midwife concerned, but I asked her to just have a quiet word in a nice way instead. It was a newly qualified midwife, and she did well when things got serious so I dont want to get her in trouble. Hopefully now though if other mums ask her to check something, she will do, even if its just to put peoples minds at rest.
I also found out that although they cant be certain what went wrong, if we were to have more children then we should be fine if they monitor us closely. I would be under a consultant from the start too.
Hope everyone is ok, and that your germs are lessening Pyxis0 -
Gore/ Horror recommended by DH:
Dark Water - the Japanese version not the American version, 2002
The Grudge (Ju-on) - Japanese version not the American
28 Days Later (British zombie film with Danny Boyle, but there is proper character involvement, which may make it less suitable for WaS).
Battle Royale (2000) - this is a Japanese gory, futuristic film. DH loves it.
The Peeping Tom (1960) for a classic, British, insight into a killer.
(Both of the two top films are in Japanese with English subtitles, but are a lot better than the American remakes apparently).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I am watching the next season of Z Nation, which gets more bizarre by the week. Zombie whispering, anyone? Pole dancing zombies? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I can't usefully contribute much on horror films as I'm quite squeamish about gore
. That said, there are a few that I like that aren't particularly gory -
Let the right one in (swedish, vampires) - this is fantastic, if you don't mind subtitles

Wow, thank you for all the suggestions, I am sure that they will keep me going! I don't mind subtitles at all and I know japanese horror films are meant to be very good. That should be enough for me to sit and watch with my bowl of vampire teeth and skull sweeties on Halloween!
Now I need to think of something to do on bonfire night. Obviously going to a firework display isn't going to happen, I wonder if indoor fireworks are still available? I also have no idea what to eat on that night, jacket potatoes? Yes, I celebrate everything.
I was saying to WaSp earlier that I want to celebrate Yule this year but I need a log and woodland decorations. I suggested going to get some from the woods near here at 3am, WaSp then pointed out that he and I running around in the woods in the middle of the night with a spade is probably a sure-fire way to get arrested. Good point!
Pity poor WaSp. He hates celebrating anything, even Christmas and his own birthday. He has learnt over time to grit his teeth and get through it, he even helps! We couldn't be more opposite as far celebrations go but he gave up complaining about it 20 years previously. I discovered this on our first anniversary when I had arranged with our local pub to put up balloons and bring us champagne. We arrived, everyone turned to look and congratulate us and WaSp froze on the spot and then ran for the door. He didn't come back until 2 hours later. These days he would have put his head in his hands and gone along with it to keep me happy. I do notice him quietly grinning at how excited I get, he tends to just roll his eyes and tells me I'm cute now.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Beware that if you get a log, it'll probably end up being a pet! :rotfl:
I still have an 'interestingly-shaped' twig in my hall, over my mirror, that I've had for years. It's part of the family!
And another one in the porch!
And several that live in the garden!
Well, they're interesting to ME, so there!

Morning Pyxis! How are you feeling?
Nothing wrong with having twigs as part of the family! You are completely right, there is no way I will get rid of my log. I already have two pet rocks!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
