To be truthful most peoples hygiene is not very good anyway.

Really? I'd like to think most people are....then again, I guess you never know! I always avoid the peanuts at the bar now :rotfl:

From a personal perspective, I'm always washing my hands, and the thought of not washing my hands before or after handling food makes me gag. I'd be lost without my anti bac hand wash and spray!

MU, hope you're feeling better soon (((hugs))) You won't get the blame for anything, you washed your hands and followed procedure. If someone did get something, it wouldn't be from you. People pick up germs and bugs from all different everyday situations.
  • Sorry you've not had that a good day Calley and Faerie, (((hugs))) to you both x x

Lots of people don't wash there hands after going to the toilet :(

I often buy a packet of something when out and don't wash my hands before eating it, something I expect most people do.

I have those mini anti bac gels in my bag and car....went abit overboardnd bought loads in America....give loads away but still finding them everywhere :rotfl:

If I feel my hands are dirty or have been touching things (like trolleys, banisters etc) what other people gave touched, then it makes me feel sick, and that's how germs are spread.

Gripe water used to contain alcohol?! I swigged it from the bottle when I was 5!

Big hugs, handshakes and squishes to all who need them which sounds like a lot of us today.

I finally got to bed at 2pm after being up all night. Don't ask, major problem over a tube of discontinued spot cream which involved another 2!!!! phone calls to my doctor. Well actually, it was 3 phone calls because I decided I couldn't talk at all on the second call and quickly hung up before I even spoke and nearly threw the phone across the room.

Whitewing, there are many problems with phone calls unfortunately. One of the major ones is that I almost always have voices talking in my mind. When I talk to people face to face I always look directly at them so that I can see them speaking. On the phone a disembodied voice blends into the other voices so it can be very hard for me to discern which is which. Because the schizophrenic voices come from outside of my head as if they talking in my ear and so is the phone it can make me very confused. Obviously people aren't aware of this so tend to talk at normal speed and I miss huge chunks because it is like trying to pick out a voice when a group of people are talking all at once. It can make me appear very rude and I will talk over people because I confuse the voices in my head for them and think that they have stopped speaking and just the voices are left. I always watch people very closely face to face so that I know when it is my time to talk but sometimes I still get it wrong. On phones it's a nightmare. Plus I often need people to repeat themselves because I can't hear them over shouting voices, often several times.

The voices themselves without fail switch to telling me how my phone is bugged when I use it, or how the radiation will give me cancer. Logically, I know it isn't true but it still makes me panic.

Thirdly my memory problems cause me to panic on the phone. I feel like I have to be quick and precise and I often can't be because I forget things even more when I panic. Really I need people to slow down and give me time to think and enable me to hear their voice clearly but of course I can't expect that. People with quiet voices on phones are even worse, the voices in my mind drown them out and I miss half of the conversation.

So all in all, phones just don't really work for me. I feel dreadful about taking a long time to understand something and taking up people's time, I imagine that they are rolling their eyes at me and just want me to go away and I just generally avoid phones as much as possible!

  • MU, don't worry. It is standard procedure. I had to make a note for H&S if any of our staff were unwell while on duty but nothing ever came of it. It is largely red tape just to make sure there isn't a sudden break out of something deadly. A stomach bug doesn't qualify as that and it sounds like you fully followed hygiene procedures anyway. Concentrate on feeling better.

Sorry that you feel low today Calley, I hope by the time you read this in the morning that you feel a bit better. You aren't alone, we are all here!

Aw, glad it worked out ok in the end, Welly. You are bound to be very tired right now, don;t blame yourself.

Big hugs, Faerie. Mental health services are very stretched these days sadly. You are on the waiting list though so that's something and Trauma Centres are especially good at dealing with PTSD. You have us standing with you always.

If anyone gets bored in the night feel free to post, I will be checking back on and off. I was wide awake at 11.30pm and ready to start the day, totally nocturnal here!

Thanks WaS *hugs from a distance*

I was saying (well it was more moaning) to Swain how for some reason I find it muh easier dealing with my mental illness than being physically ill. I think it's because I'm rarely physically I'll and im used to dealing with the MH probs (plus there's meds which usually tackle the symptoms). I think I'm partly worrying and partly annoyed with myself for being ill because I know with my MH it means I may need to take sick days so in a way im annoyed im having to "waste" sick days for being off with this. I know I have to be off for health and safety reasons and it can't be helped but yeah I'm feeling a bit meh about it all :o

  • Oh, I'm the same, MU. If my mental health messes up I accept it and get on with it, if I get physically ill I hate it and turn into a wailing 5 year old. I expect my mental health to go wrong so it rarely phases me, physical illness is a different kettle of fish.

I would feel the same as you, I used to get so annoyed when I went down with a bug and couldn't work because I might have needed those days for being catatonic! You do need the time to get better though especially as it sounds like you have a temperature. Your health is important as well as keeping to H&S procedures. You need time in bed to cuddle Hello Kitties!

Very true, you speak sense (as you always do!) :) kitties are on hand and being cuddled

I think I'm just missing being young and being ill and having my mum make me soup! It's harder to deal with when you're essentially on your own (Swain did offer but I didn't want him getting ill too). I think I'm the same in that with my MH I expect it and am used to it, just throws me when I have other illnesses!

How come you're wide awake at this time then? I think I'm turning into an owl im so nocturnal myself! Those years of working nights have never left me. However I think I'm much more productive in an evening than in the morning (though that's on par true to the Meds I take at night that make me drowsy)

  • Other illnesses totally throw me through a loop. Being mentally unwell is just part of how I live but honestly if anything physical goes wrong I panic, whine and become a child.

I was awake until 1pm after being up all night beforehand because I was too anxious to sleep in case I missed the phone call! I was dealing with trying to get hold of a spot cream believe it or not, that was on prescription. The pharmacist insisted it was discontinued, the doctors surgery said it wasn't. This involved WaSp going to three different chemists to be told the same thing. I finally got hold of my doctor and it turned out they were both sort of right, the company that makes the cream had been bought by another company so it did still exist but had a new brand name. I fell into bed after that and slept right the way through to 11.30pm and now of course, I am wide awake.
