There's a programme on daytime telly all about getting stuff from the tip and turning it into pieces that resell for silly money! (London!) but some of the tips are quite good.
Now, what was it called................

99p?! That is amazing! What an enormous bargain! Even second hand I would have thought it would cost around £30. Well done, what an excellent buy! I love the glass doors, so pretty.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well that makes me feel like I overpaid for my new ebay furniture acquisition. But I just loved it so much.
I have picked out shelves and possibly a paint colour for one part of the renovation. The other part, I have sort of chosen colours and flooring, although DH is once again doing my head in.
I am feeling a bit guilty though. I explained to the contractor what I wanted done and he was quite negative about it. It wasn't anything difficult so I've emailed someone else to ask for a quote and now I feel guilty - the guy in question will still get some work out of it, but maybe not all of it.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Calley - the cabinet looks like it is in pretty good nick from the photo - was there something in particular you wanted to do with it? It would be a hard cabinet to "modernise", and I would treat a cabinet like yours with due respect and restore to original state repairing any nicks and digs, checking the glass grouting and all the ironwork is in good condition. If you wanted to jazz it up, you could consider replacing some of the glass panels with coloured ones or installing lighting to "pimp" it up? It looks like a dark mahogany wood to me and I suspect has the moulding and styling to match, so I would keep this pretty faithful to its original concept. At most I might try sanding it back to see what colour the wood came up - but that would be a tricky job as you would need to remove all the glass to do it properly and would need the right tools to get into the mouldings and crevices properly - and then I might refinish with a light wax as opposed to a varnish as wax seems to be more popular these days. If you got that for 99p, I reckon you got a bargain - in good condition, repaired and restored and if it has original glass shelves etc - that could be worth much more than you paid for it.0
